Authenticator for premade groups

So I can’t list myself in the group finder unless I do the authentication service. Is this true or is there a way around it?

I came back after leaving this game for a few months, I already had second thoughts, but this is too much.

I’ve always hated the authenticator and I REFUSE to use it. I mean legit, even if it’s between playing the game or not. So is there a way around this? I DO NOT WANT TO USE AN AUTHENTICATOR!!

It only stops custom text being put in the group iirc so you should be able to create a group still but with that limitation.

Just download the app it is not hard, why you are against it? You realize it makes your account more safe? Plus you get free pet too! And it is Free, you do not need to pay a single cent what more you can ask for? Why exacly you are against it, there is 0 negatives basicaly.

I don’t want to, it’s a hassle and no free pet will make me use it. I know more people who lost their accounts to the authenticator than people who actually managed to have their accounts get robbed.

I realize that now, I guess I’ll try the game without custom messages (since I got a sub might as well), but for real if it becomes a problem I am not playing playing this game. Seriously I’de rather have the premade groups be flooded by boosters over this.

Tuest me it is not a hassle, and how can you loose account due to authentificator? If you add your real name and detail when you register to battlenet you can Recover anything with simple ID scan. I Got hacked back in 2012 and ID screenshot saved me.

What if my phone is in the other room and I don’t wanna get it? And the worst part is that it won’t just be for wow but Bnet as a whole. I’de rather expose my account than actively put hurdles for logging in

Makes no difference as you can set your net to remember you.

What about those of us without a smartphone?? Some of us are perfectly happy with our 15 years old Nokia flip phone!

This. You don’t get asked for codes everytime you log in, You also get a recovery code incase your phone breaks/lose it. You can then use the recovery code to get back in without showing ID. I think it asks me like once every 6 months.

I’ve had an authenticator for ages, I ordered a physical one back when it was available. It’s still functional to this day because it’s so rare that you actually have to start it to get the code that the battery still lasts.

Debunking some authenticator arguments:

  1. Your data is sold to China

The moment you enter this world, in one way or another your name is data and will be noted down somewhere. From that moment on anyone can in one way or another find out things about you. Believe it or not, Google already knows through AdSense what product you were talking about yesterday so good luck escaping that. Just say the word “wedding” or “bicycle” into some form of input device (phone for instance) and you’ll be within a few days served with those type of ads.

The app itself will only give the important information you want it to give, if it asks you to share your photo album, well just maybe don’t accept

  1. I need it to login each time

Just once per device and you are good to go, tick remember me if there is an option.

  1. I dont have space for it on my phone!

Uninstall Candy Crush, install authenticator, use authenticator, uninstall authenticator, install Candy Crush again.

  1. It doesn’t make my account safer, I know people who lost…

Yea, well they must be darn dummies if they managed to give out their authenticator code that is being refreshed all the time to someone else along with their account info, sounds like a them problem. Don’t share accounts and don’t buy those “automatic boosts” where someone is playing on your account lul.

Alright maybe the authenticator changed so I’ll give it a try then

Me too and I can’t remember the last time I was asked for it … probably just as well as I’ve put it “somewhere safe” so it could be anywhere.

You literally never interact with it…

Noone force you to use it.

I lost 5 minutes installing it and have free bag slots,a new pet,can make custom messages in my group and my millions of gold are safe.

But noone force you to use it.

Not using an authenticator at any time in the last decade is mental mate. There is literally no reason not to do it, Blizz remembers your computer I haven’t had to use my Authenticator in years, the only people who need the code are the ones trying to nab your account.

Biggest source of dirty gold in the past was people without authenticators getting their accounts rinsed.
