Auto respect when entering LFR and LFD

It would be great to have the option to automatically switch to your queued-for spec and gear when entering LFD and LFR.

I am not talking about forcing people to use the queued spec. If there are not enough tanks or healers and a DPS chooses to change to tank or healer, it is fine.

Just make it so that the spec changes by default on entering, and then if people want to change to other specs (which most of the time is not happening), let them do it manually.

Many times, when dungeons or raids, smart people do not wait for a tank or healer to change spec or maybe even put us into combat without being able to change.

Also, make the opposite change of specs when leaving LFD or LFR. Just like mounts are restored when leaving the dungeon, specs should be restored, too.

One could easily argue that you have time to respec, before you accept the invitation to a LFD/LFR just as it pops up.

Yeah but since its lfr he talks about it also allows people to queue up as a tank despite being dps. Wouldnt be the first time i did lfr and we keep wiping only to find out the tank(s) just is a dps who queued up as tank for the short queue times

No, I am asking about this for what others do. Personally, I don’t care what others do, and in fact, my proposal won’t fix that. To fix that, the system must switch spec when entering LFR and also force us to keep the chosen spec. It could help because those DPS will automatically change to tank but it won’t stop them from respecting to DPS once inside the raid.

I am asking this because I am always on DPS spec in outdoor zones, but I do LFR as Healer, and I want to be a Healer immediately after joining the raid and be a DPS immediately after leaving. We should be able to enter queue content with the spec we choose while keeping our outdoor spec while waiting in the queue.

That does not always work. Sometimes, you have time to switch spec after accepting the queue, mostly on a fresh LFR run in which 25 people must accept first, but other times, the teleport happens immediately after accepting the queue. For example, in many holiday dungeons, people usually accept the queues faster than what takes to change spec, or when you are put on an LFR that has already started and the queue only needs a few people to fill the group.

That’s actually already in the game… if you set up equipment sets for the specs in the equipment manager. At least as far as I know that’s the requirement for the game to change your spec automatically in queued content.

I have one set of equipment assigned to every spect, and that only works to switch gears when I change the spec. But only when I manually change my spec. If I queue as a Healer while playing outdoors in DPS spec, the game doesn’t change me into Healer when I accept the queue.

PD: I have tested it right now, and it doesn’t work. After that, upon entering as DPS into the raid, I couldn’t change into Healer because they put me into combat immediately.

What do you know about it?

It is odd that sometimes it does it and other times it does not. For LFD it will put me in the required spec and put on the right gear. For TW it does not. I haven’t tried it in LFR.

Or better when the que come up it will not let you in if you don’t change your spec

In LFR doesn’t work. It doesn’t work in Holiday dungeon bosses either.

Once joined an LFR with 4 dps role’ing as healers, leaving just one actual healer (who was in blues and greens)… so no surprise we were wiping during the boss fight.

I don’t mind people doing that if it’s not needed, but I hate idiots that do that to the detriment of the raid with zero thought causing wipes for lack of heals and couldn’t be bothered to do the role they role’d in for entry.

Even seeing people doing that for tanks now too…

Well I usually start to respect some one after I get to know them but cheers for auto respecting I guess.

people should respect each other no matter the occasion, treat others like they would like them treat themselves
