Why is this allowed? I have seen addons which scan the AH and automatically buy things under a certain price.
If botting is not allowed in the main game why is it acceptable to allow the AH to be automated this way ?

I see this thread mentions the use of an addon called TSM which basically speeds up the process of listning and buying things giving advantages over the ârealâ players who just ther to try and buy and sell some things like normal people.
I listed 2 of something which had listings of 100g and I listed 2 items for 80g each and they were basically sold before i even listed them they were quite random items so no way are people clicking ârefreshâ or something.
It has to be an automated system, I think TSM needs banning as it allows people with too much gold to corner the marketplace and charge what they want for items or limit the number of transactions per player per realm per day so gold farmers cannot corner the market and we can have a market where some people can actually end up with a bargain sometimes not just the AH players.
You want to buy something?? Simple type it in the search bar press search and then select the item you want to buy .
Sorry itâs just annoying âOh look theres rousing fire for 4g each 3 of themâ oh there gone before anyone can get a chance to buy.

I also think a cooldown between buying items could help.
At this point I would be happy for materials to become soulbound on purchase.

Just because it happens doesnât mean it is allowed. It isnât permitted to make any automated actions.
Neither of these would work. Some items on the AH you need more than 1 of, but the AH makes you buy them in quantities of 1, Bags are a good example. If I start a new toon I need 13 bags, but can only buy them in quantities of 1. There are other example of reagents which would cause more disruption.
And the soulbound on purchase wouldnt work either. Again if I buy bags for an alt ? I cannot send them. Not to mention it goes against the open and free market.
And yet it does.
Just because a person has sat for a few hours and set parameters to buy anything that is say less than 10% of market value and repost it at Market Value & listing fee +5% for tens, hundreds or maybe thousands of items, which later all they have to do is click 1 to perhaps 2 buttons to do, does not mean its less automated.
How does clicking 2 buttons to buy potentially hundreds of items based on a magic formula compare to someone having to manually search and select and buy ? Oh I forgot it relists them too lol.1 method takes a matter of a couple of seconds the other far longer depending on how many items.
Im talking mainly about crafting materials not bags

Again. Just because it happens does not mean it is permitted. You are not permitted to make automation methods. Setting a program to do multiple actions from 1 or 2 button strokes is not permitted. You may with a macro but not addons or scripts.

I agree with him (sorry about the classic toon. Chart got logged out and now I dont see any others lol).
Styling the AH interface, is cool. Fine.
But to automate the buying and selling of items en masse based on a large number of factors and variables within seconds flat⌠nah thats not cool.

If the AH wouldnât suck, there would be no reason to automate anything nor would it give them any advantage to use addons like TSM.
There are working market systems that have proven themselves over decades both irl and in other games. The issues youâre facing are 100% caused by blizzardâs reluctance to modernize it.
What about the AH sucks for you to warrant TSM in its current form ??
- Lack of buy orders
- No proper way of listing large stacks of items (or buying them without getting errors)
- No way to edit them without a huge ordeal involving a mailbox
- Lack of buy orders
As in You tell sellers âI want X item and Y of it at Z priceâ ?
I hate to say this, but TSM doesnt provide this either.
I have no problems putting any sized stack for sale ? Drag , drop and select sell all.
As for buying with errors, I hate to say this (and I think you know whats coming) this is actually also caused by TSM. TSM buys and relists so fast it is contributing tot he already existing issues.
You cannot do that with TSM either

While I do not disagree with you on points above, not 1 is solved by TSM. Which makes the justification for the above meh.
Ergo, TSM could go in this scenario and your life would not be made any the worse for it.
TSM doesnât solve them but it provides workarounds through automation like sniping orders and relisting automatically.
This is likely more to do with the realities of a Region Wide Auction House.
Just imagine how many people are searching the AH at one time. Simply you listed something at the same time as someone else was buying.
I have used TSM for several years now. I am yet to discover any automated function in it.
That would still be the case without TSM.
Then ban DMB, BigWigs, Questie, Weak Auras, Elvui⌠because they give an advantage over ârealâ players. There is no difference really.
Once again, that is more to do with the Region Wide auction house, than addons people are using.
I have no idea on the work order front so will not comment on that.
But snipping wise it should never be the case of needing an addon to ninja things.
Perhaps relisting auctions, minus the huge variables that it comes with yeah. But then thats a massive chunk of TSM effectively killed isnt it.
thats not automated it rquires 2 clicks at least. no different than most macros in gameplay (u ban those too? lets ban macros and DBM and weak auras that will be fun tbh )
automation is done by bots and bizzard policy of once a year bot wave cuz theyre lazy to ban them every month is damaging to economy and game image
just ban the AH addons already , what is this stupid debate all aboutâŚ

So if I can make an automated macro do my rotation its ok because I have to click it to get it to do it right ?
