getting 10 ppl to defend ice blood is already impopssible, and more than onces 10 randoms cannot defend vs 30 zergers, because we will get a few monks using ring of peace from enemy tema making our defense hardly possible
someitme su do manage to ge tthis to happen, but most of the times only 3-4 ppl sits def, and we delay enough for the victory screen to appear, but i don’t enjoy it that much, i often see the 30/35 afk bot/npcs north probably alt tabbed waiting for bunkers to be controlled, and im constantly dying 1v7 to recap TP or IB or 1 of the frostwolves towers… man AV is the only Epic that is worth playing, i w ish it was taken a little more seriously than the pve rush afk alt tab tactic we’ve had for years…
also, yeah now ppl don’t even need iceblood, saw literal boss rushes of 3 minutes and it was over… the fk?
There is an achiv for winning it fast so it’s alright if it’s possible.

yup, had 4 of em yesterday, disgusted by it.
We just got to the horde base towers from start
and the game was over, no tower, no nothing, boom, done.

no its not, its all towers up, u need 2 min to move to enemy boss, and its over… in 2 min
explain to me how , even with tanks and healers, u kill the boss under 3 min.
4 ppl with roots, traps and flare at the entrance to the boss chamber and no one enters, but people prefer to jump in front.
I find it easy.
Your problem is probably that you don’t have the raid leader when you ask people to defend. Get the RL, make some raid warnings and tell people you want to defend, many will gladly follow.
With enough defenders you can not only buy enough time so your team can kill their boss, but you can force the game to become about towers and graveyards.
The basic strategy is to kill a part of the attackers near iceblood tower, those that leak through you kill in your base after you recall with insignia. Once you have cleared your base, you go back to Iceblood GY. There are mostly three possible scenarios here.
-
Your teams offense was successful and they’ve captured stonehearth GY. They will be outnumbered by the opponents at this time because all the alliance you have killed in defense now spawn up there. Assist them fast before they lose Stonehearth GY.
-
Both teams have defended against the first attack and meet in the middle, try to take their GY.
-
The opponents are pushing for iceblood tower again, clear it first, then push stonehearth GY.
I have a recording from yesterday where scenario 2 was the case.
We capped Stonehearth GY after the mid zerg and kept pushing them back until we won.
I am leaving a link to the video here.

This is btw not something that works every once in a blue moon where the stars have to align for you. Alterac defense is super reliable, it was my go-to strategy throughout all of Dragonflight and SL before we switched over to blitzing their boss with 4 bunkers up, but defense still works and we play it from time to time. Recently I played a round where a premade on our side canceled their join and we played 21 v 40. We focused on defense until our team filled up and won the game. Defense is what we play when we don’t just want to win, but have an actual PvP battle. You can also play a variant where you defend IB Garrison instead of IB tower, it has the advantage of saving Galvangar. Most alliance players will ride into your trap.
So if anyone doesn’t like the rush meta and would rather fight over towers and graveyards, you know what to do now.

alterac defense was my strategy in SL, i managed a 32 AV winstreak playing alone, because in SL, i played necrolord, triuneward, blastwave diverted energy tempest barrier prenerfs, and firemage could cycle these and be immortal on a tower, adding pot/healthstone, and blastwave for defense during SL was insane, now we gained mobility and im not tanky enough to do the same sadly
Rush boss tactic is legit. However, its the most boring crap. Imagine joining a bg where you try to avoid each other and rush pve boss to have the game over in sub 3 minutes.
Epic BGs are broken.
Don’t need to do everything on your own. Just make a few nice raid warnings as a raid leader and your team will have a solid defense.
I feel like many players are just incredibly lazy. If more people made use of frostwolf / stormpike insignia rushes would be wiped on a regular basis. In one round, a fire mage recalled and killed our entire raid in the boss room with a living bomb. This mage was smart. Many players don’t lift a finger to defend their boss. They can take their deserved L as far as I am concerned.

i solved it, stopped queueing epic for the last year or so
Talking strictly about AV, use Stormpike Insignia, defend base, they can’t blitz.
There. But it’s easier to complain on the forums that “Epic BGs are broken”, only because you can’t play defense.

If 0 pvp takes place in an epic bg and the tactic is to avoid eachother and end the bg within 3 minutes, yes its broken.

PVP in this game became horrible, they destroyed whole fun of gearing by giving everyone same gear after 3 weeks of playing, the BG modes are just like you wrote - full zerg, no objectives, no strategy, no fun, i have no idea who decides about it, but iam pretty sure he is hired in competetive company.
and noone plays rating bg’s , cause noone need rating anymore, well if someoene is interested of getting a pet or mount, yeah, only collectors finds this game fun
Curiously, what did you find fun about gearing?
yeah, noone is exited while geting new, better or even bis item in raid to get higher numbers. same as noone is exited he can get better pvp stuff after putting effort to get rating. serously, what ppl play this game these days… collectors
better make moba arena from this game. who needs gearing up
idk, I don’t think gear disparity is good for PvP, it makes fights/matches too lopsided.
It makes sense for PvE though.

I agree that the NPC and vehicle health scaling is pretty whack in season 4, but its not like there’s nothing players can do about it. Make your team play defense and you will have an AV battleground with nice large scale PvP. Or do an organized recall and wipe their rush.
Yes, it is a problem, but there are easy and accessible solutions.
The alliance equivalent of the defense strategy is to intercept the horde raid in front of stonehearth bunker and to wipe them.
PvP is more enjoyable without a large gear disparity.
I also used to think that some form of gear progression would be nice, ever since we have the DF gearing system, I can clearly tell that the DF system is much better.
what? when was the last time u played an epic bg.
most are premades and over within 3 min.
if u defend it takes 6 min tops.
Just had 4 x Taz in a row, 4 x tops 3 min. O the fun.

So you just said you encountered the same premade 4 times in a row and did absolutely nothing to try to stop them FOUR TIMES, although you knew what their tactic was. I don’t know what to say, I think it’s a skill issue.
