AVALOREN - The New Super Continent of 11.0

Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms were too big of a mess to fully revamp. Blizzard figured it wasn’t feasible to to in such a way that it lives up to people’s idea of an old world revamp. So, in November they’ll announce their version of a “revamp” with 11.0 - AVALOREN.

This is intended to give players much of what they like from Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, but better.

  • Avaloren sits on the other side of the world, a super continent much bigger than Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.
  • Players sail with the Pirate Armada seeking to claim Avaloren’s riches, however our intention is different to theirs. We’re seeking an ancient Titan secret, and a hidden Old God. A mystery that will unravel over the course of 11.0 and beyond.
  • Avaloren is built with Dragonriding in mind, but unlike the Dragon Isles, it isn’t as vertical. Instead, its zones stretch out for much larger areas, covering a huge part of Azeroth.
  • It is a primal land, filled with ancient forests preserved in a pristine shape ever since before the Sundering. There are previously unheard of Wild Gods, distinct sub-species of familiar creatures like Gnolls and Quillboar, and a few surprises as well.
  • Various factions have discovered Avaloren over the years, although they haven’t conquered all of it yet. For example, the Scarlet Crusade re-settled and formed the Scarlet Kingdom along it’s western shores, a fanatical society bent on converting the local inhabitants to the Light.
  • There are also people who have dwelled here since the Sundering, having been separated from their kin thousands of years ago. For example, a Night Elf society with a new type of Druid form, and Forest Trolls.
  • Avaloren features player housing. A player may choose from a few dozen potential locations and set up their own dwelling, in a scenery they enjoy. This house may then be upgraded and customised, and it gets a special Hearthstone.
  • Avaloren features several biomes and rich landscapes, from sandy deserts to tropical jungles, dense forests, snowy mountains, and grassy fields. It is a land waiting for the explorers of Azeroth to discover it.

Source?!?!?!?!

Thumb.

But it’s an alright idea, except for the player housing. I just don’t get the appeal of it and it’ll just mean that you’ll meet even less players out in the world.

My backside. But it’s a fairly plausible scenario, based on various clues we have about the future.

Depends on implementation, imo. Player housing can be limited to:

  • Venue for RP.
  • Cosmetics such as trophies and armour sets on display.
  • A place to chillax while AFKing.
  • A couple of basic vendors or quest givers.

What it doesn’t need is:

  • AH.
  • Bank.
  • Major vendors and quest givers.

All good fake rumours sound plausible.

I think they’re making an educated guess on this on. There have been plenty of sources in Dragonflight pointing to another continent west of Kalimdor. I think it’s safe to assume they are building up to something in that kind of direction.

Whilst its plausible that it could happening in Dragonflight, the amount of content that still seems to still need to be covered in DF, along with the amount of content that Avalon and a new Western continent can bring to the game, a whole expansion would be a more enjoyable experience of it.

Yes, this is just a fake rumour expansion speculation.

P.s. No player housing please. It’s not needed in WoW.

Indeed, in which case she should present it as her speculation.

I agree entirely with you.

Well maybe this is the start of “leak” season.

Will the new land be made up by the bodies of all the trillions of baby turtles that made it to the water?

They are so many that they should have displaced an incredible amount of water

so make wow a sandbox mmo ? i’m up for it but that won’t sell to its current players.
i’d prefer old continents to stay alive but yeah wow needs a whole revamp with every aspect of it to fit in today’s standarts.

Trust me bro

That expansion would be more exciting than all the expansions from Cata onwards combined ngl

if you built a garrison in warlords of draenor your houses are already in the game, my main char can even access the auction house through a bott he built from parts which took ages to get

Doubt it’ll happen, bliz has already said it would cost a raid tier to make player housing. Garrisons were an attempt of it, and it cost a raid tier and more ect. And it was only Human/Orc themed.

Bad take, ESO has housing and yet way easier to do world bosses with randos.

Garrisons did not “cost” a raid tier + I would much rather lose a raid tier and have housing/way better open world.
