Avatar is a boring spell, basically just a Warrior’s Avenging Wrath.
Why not make it so it acts as a massively more powerful Heroic Leap?
You activate it, and you get a targeting reticule like aforementioned spell and when you land in a group of mobs it does a huge amount of damage, and THEN you get to be a colossus for 20 seconds or so. Perhaps make it only last 15 in order to balance the new effect. Maybe even the more enemies you land on the longer it lasts.
It would also solve the issue of it being a ‘press button to do more damage’ and that’s all you do with the GCD.
Avatar is great for Prot Warriors, use it with talent Unstopable Force and you are Godlike How can you say spell is boring? you would want it to spawn dancing rainbow-coloured rabbits along with dmg boost?
It’s ALREADY a Metamorphosis ability isn’t it? It changes the player into a stone colossus.
Much in line with Blizzard’s correct statement, they want cooldown abilities to have some impact when you activate them-- as opposed to it just being “You know do 20% more damage.” which is unsatisfying to use a GCD on from a purely fun gameplay angle.
EDIT: Yea I haven’t played DH all that much as frankly I find them to be all flash and no depth. Meta does have that jump thing when you click it aye, but I think it actually makes less sense for them to have this-- it would be better if Warriors got that as they have Heroic Leap, and Demon Hunters created a Fel Wave from their wings when activating Meta.
Since Avatar is an ability developed by the mountain kings, it would make more sense to have it tied to a storm affinity.
Something like you pop it, and then a massive thunderstrike crashes down ontop of you to turn you into the avatar would be cool. Would of course do damage as well.
TBH Avatar would summon powerful Storm Giant to fight at your side for 20 seconds, having unique abilities etc. That would be something new for warriors except chance on hit effect from Deathwing sword ^^
Maybe that’s why people are considering warriors boring, just a simple guy, with big sword/axe/mace and hitting with it, not a single spell included, nothing magical about warriors.
You’d think so yeah, but that’s why some of us prefer warriors.
Warriors is the only thing in this game which has actually happened. There’s just a certain satisfaction in overpowering some Mary Sue without having to use magic.
I’m just following on from what the developers have said. They don’t want long cooldowns that you just press and nothing really happens visually or on a gameplay level. Just having 20% more damage doesn’t feel any different.

Yes it generates 20 rage, which really is very little and lost in the swamp of normal generation anyway. The CC break is also just thrown in for balance, and clearly in say raiding, is never really considered because the 20% damage is what the ability is used for.
incorrect. your statement about warriors beying the only thing in game that actualy happend. priests still exist today. shamans existed in some cultures and druids from celtic culture.

Shamans chopped off people’s head with hatchets and practiced voodoo magic. Not so much with elements.
And the only spell a priest ever casted was a tax spell.
I also haven’t seen anyone turn into an animal before.
They have the same title, but at their core they’re not the same.
