I am relatively new to balance druid and I’m enjoying it a lot, but I noticed that when playing with nature’s balance I overcap on either astral power or empowerments rather easily. How do I avoid this and if I reach both high astral power and empowerments, what takes priority to dump?
By not playing with nature’s balance ? It’s the most useless of the row most of the time. In PvP treants are much better, same goes for mm+ high keys. In low keys GoE = biggest damage.
If however you’re talking about CoS then there is a problem because the only way to really overcap on empowerments would be with power of the moon trait. And even so ap has to be spent regularly in order to keep starlord up all the time. So perhaps a good start would be to tell us which cases are you talking about ?
But always keep in mind that overcapping on those is better than lacking them all the time…
I have only used nature’s balance for single target, and its the only scenario where I am having this issue. I do have poftm as a trait so that could be a cause, but I just find myself having both high astral power and empowerments after using my opener and incarnation.
Most of the damage comes from shrieking stars and starsurges themselves, so I wouldn’t bother to much about overlapping several empowerments.
With more experience you’ll get better at managing the relationship between AP and empowerments. Playing Balance is all about muscle memory, however if you find yourself having to choose between overcapping AP or empowerments always fire a Starsurge. Starsurge is significantly more important and that means AP as a resource is worth more than the empowerments.
Ideally you of course don’t want to waste either, but if you have to choose fire a Starsurge.
As for talents NB/WoE is the raid alternatives and Force of Nature would be the m+ alternative. From personal sims I’ve seen WoE outscale NB as my gear improved so that might be something to look out for. WoE also synergizes better with Streaking Stars.
I’d also say don’t play New Moon with NB as that’ll cause you to overcap easily. Fury of Elune or Shooting Stars is much smoother to manage combined with NB.
Assuming you wanna keep NB talented on your level 15 row I’d suggest to pair it with Incarn>Twin Moons/Stellar Flare>SS for ST/cleave and Incarn>Twin Moons>Fury for AoE.
Starlord is a needless hassle for a very minor gain and generally Incarn will serve you better overall.
