Fancy that, more people like to watch people playing against each other than against a scripted encounter. This does not mean though that more people play PvP than PvE. Correlation =/= Causation.
Watching = \ = playing

PVP has always been more popular to watch live.
Twitch grew on PVP e-sports. Could argue the same for youtube (CoD comps etc etc).
400k+ viewership, $10k prize pool.

The AWC live stream currently has 28k viewers.
Where? On their YouTube channel the mdi vods have : 688k/510k/479k views on different vods, while the awc vod has 318k views. Mdi highlights also has more views than the pvp ones. Mdi also had 40k active viewers, while awc has 27k, so i don’t know where you pulled these numbers from but i have a guess.

I think maybe he added up the views from MDI cup 1 vs AWC Cup 1? which is ridiculous because AWC has more videos than MDI.

Yeah i don’t know, i just looked it up on YouTube and the awc viewers numbers are simply lower. I’m not trying to be like him and say “hah see pvp don’t even matter”, but it’s not that hard to figure out which one is more popular.
AWC is a joke, WoW is one of the few mmos where PVP has chance to become something more than a side-activity but they are just letting it go down the drain just like they did with Overwatch. Instead they are trying to make esports of dungeons… as if it will ever happen
Have more viewer than MDI isnt really an exploit or a sign of success, mdi are the most boring “esport” to watch.
What is there to watch about MDI? Once you’ve seen one team you’ve seen them all, there is 1 cookie cutter comp (DH tank, Resto/Disc healer, MM + Boomy + Mage) then there is 1 established best strat for every dungeon, then it’s just a matter of what team has the best switches on their keyboard and the best internet connection.
AWC isn’t perfect, but MDI is really boring, they should force the teams to swap setup between dungeons or something
StarCraft II is a fun game to watch others play, even though I no longer play it.
I still play WoW, but I could never enjoy a WoW stream/tournament.
I really don’t feel like WoW is made to be watched. It’s pretty boring, whether it’s PvE or PvP.
