Awkwardly wielding 2H weapons

To whom this may concern.

I have noticed a trait with some new and some old 2H weapons that is very undesirable, holding the weapon almost at the top of the hilt. It looks so awkward, clumsy and ugly. Why do I hold my big badass axe, long polearm and some maces like I’m afraid I’ll accidentally cut someone. It should stick out a decent bit to give it presence and to make it actually feel like a weapon and not a slab of metal attached to a holding stick that I’m too weak to wield. It does not feel good to have a unnecessarily long hilt sticking far out behind you because you’re holding at the top of the hilt.

An argument could be made for weight distribution and balance etc but that kind of reasoning does not belong in a fantasy RPG, certainly wow with all that work on different ways to express yourself through toys, more transmogrification capabilities and just general quality of life that have added throughout the years, not to mention the amount of work put into the weapons themselves. I personally think every weapon that fit the examples given should be revisited to make sure they aren’t so off in how the weapon is held. Making some of these weapons stick out more shouldn’t be a technical limitation considering how far swords stick out, sometimes double the amount these example are sticking out.

In layman terms, I just want the new 2H weapons, that devs have put a lot of work into making look good, to stick out further giving them the glory they deserve.

Examples:
(I had hyperlinks to imgur posts with examples but apparently links aren’t allowed so I will just refer you to check Old Gorehowl model vs New Gorehowl model that drops from latest mega dungeon)

Found this well written Reddit post which is closely related to this post. It goes on to explain and show visually how the position of where you hold your weapon not only effects the appeal of the weapon while wielding it but how it’s sheathed on your back in a unappealing position.

Ps. Sorry for poorly written post, made it in the heat of the moment because I got excited for ability to get new Gorehowl model only to find out how bad it feels to use it which annoyed me a lot.

I agree, there are only few weapons that we don’t hold at hilt level which give a way more realistic feeling to it.

To name one, the 2 hands Masses from Zereth Mortis
