I was playing since original Vanilla and quit playing after MoP. Decided to check BFA right after Azshara patch.
Leveled up to 120 and went straight to farm Mythic plus dungeons as currently thats the main source of top gear.
Finished +10 key and got around 17k titan residuum which allows you to buy 2 ilvl 430 “random” azerite armor tokens. Bought 2 shoulder tokens. Opened them and found 2 identical useless pieces. There are 6 different pieces. If chances of getting one are equal, than there is 16% for getting one specific piece. Chances of getting 2 identical pieces in a row would be around 2.5% = 0.16 x 0.16 which is extremely unlikely to happen but can occur. So I though I got 2 identical pieces because of extremely bad luck.
Second week finished +12 mythic dungeon, scribed some azerite armor and was able to purchase 3 azerite armor tokens for shoulder. And guess what? 3 absolutely useless identical pieces in a row. They are different from what I got on first week. But chances of getting 3 identical pieces are less than 1%! Absolutely ridiculous and I dont think this is random.
I think Blizzard programed it to be like that. You can only get 1 random piece per week. Other tokens will give you exact same pieces if bough on the same week!
So question to Blizzard: why you call this token random if its absolutely not? And why did I spent my time for useless gear?
Yeah something is wrong, it can’t be random, i got same chest 6 times, shoulders 9 times & chest 4 times of random mythic pieces last season … there MUST be an increased chance of getting one over the other
Also let me guess, the shoulders you got were Tentacle-Laced spaulders?
Absolutely not true. I hoarded quite a bit of residuum on my druid as I wanted to get Azerite set for Balance (which requires a certain trait on all pieces). I bought three shoulders pieces in one reset, all were different (and luckily the last one had the trait I wanted).
Also, as a side note, on priest, if you play Shadow and want shoulders, save up for a specific piece. Literally only one shoulder piece is usable for Shadow.
Thats right, for shadow priest only one piece is useful which I am trying to get. One specific peace cost 200k which will take around 10 weeks to get.
But in 10 weeks 8.3 will come with new gear so there is no point.
If you considering getting 3 peaces it will take 30 weeks. And by that time new expansion will come out.
Recently i bought 3 x 415 ilvl shoulders in a row (in a time of 2 minutes) and i rolled 3 x the same shoulder, it’s not RNG, i believe there is something going on with those “Random” things. Like this week, my best item were 430 ilvl legs, so i got 425ilvl legs from weekly chest, i was furious but ok, my second best item were boots 420 so i went to open PvP chest, boom 415 boots. This is not RNG, they want us to think like that, but it’s intentional. Too often it happens that someone get the same items in a row to believe it’s pure random.
The 435 of that specific piece is better than every other 450. So I would roll random on the 9k cost 430 pieces to get that first, then save. The dps increase from having the full correct 6 traits as shadow is huge.
Also it’s a lot longer than 10 weeks until 8.3 comes out. You’re talking late january before we get another raid tier.
Thats exactly right. If you want to get dps you just need right treats. They only scale a bit with ilvl. 445 vs 430 same traits not much difference. However casino dealer is cheating not letting me take my well deserved gear. It was much better in other expansions when you get specific gear for badges from heroic dungeons.
8.3 script is already build in ptr client. Check the news.
I am pretty sure it will come out right after Blizzcon in the end of November-early December.
Earlier than January or February would surprise me. I don’t expect any content after 8.3, so releasing it so soon would make the content drought until the 9.0 pre-patch excessively long.
We get the 15th anniversary raid, old school Alterac Valley, and probably some other events in November, which are part of 8.2.5, so there is no need for them to release 8.3 (which will most likely include a full new raid tier) before early next year.
8.3 will be the 15th anniversary event, the raid itself won’t be out until January. The next tier hasn’t been announced, ptr isn’t even a whisper, boss testing often takes at least a month or two. If you try to squish that into 2019 it means an early to mid december release, meaning bliz would be putting out a whole raid tier, with a mythic race going through christmas, and all staff on holiday and unable to fix the obvious bugs.
January 21st US, 22nd EU, is the most likely time for us to get the next tier. You’ll be using whatever gear you get this M+ season and from EP until then.
Nah it’s a solid 900-1.2k dps difference going from 430 to 445. Shadow is just a special case where not having the perfect 6 traits is like 2.5k dps loss per trait missing. No other spec is even close to half that.
So i was gonna get a 415 piece just so i could raid, ended up spending 30K …

my priest got it for 430 first time i rolled after 2 weeks i got it in 445 first time
