It will be cool to see azeroth city’s like lordaeron, stratholme, etc . rebuild ( like in cataclysm)

It would’ve been nice if the devs would not only destroy places but also fix them, be it Darkshire, or any other. Sadly, it looks like those are not as easy to market as ruining things, so we just hop from one place to another. Oh well.

I wonder if something like the quests to assist building colesseum for Trial of the Crusader could be a useful addition to make it look like players participate in such activities.

Finger’s crossed we’ll be returning to the Eastern Kingdom’s either in the next expansion or near future.
That’s probably the only way I can see them revamping the Old World.

They’ll a need a reasonable justification to do so, with the time an money they would have to sink into it. So if the player base are going to spending a good portion of their time in the area, then that should be a reason enough for them to do it.

I agree with the sentiment that the World of Warcraft needs to go back to it’s roots too; and that means the zones introduced in Vanilla Azeroth and those that harken back to the trilogy of RTS games. The Eastern Kingdoms and Lordaeron as a continent would be a start.

We’re in the Shadowlands currently but, ironically I do think the franchise has lost a bit of it’s ‘Soul’ as of late. Going back to the old world should help ground it again, by letting the PC see how the land has changed and progressed since it’s introduction. It would help provide that feeling of a living immersive world again. For instance, give Stratholm the Boralus treatment, do something with Gilneas. For that matter update Quel’Thalas and by extension Silvermoon too etc…

One of Lor’themar’s NPC on-click quotes is “The rebuilding continues.”
It would be nice to see some progress on this and the fruits of their labour. You know, maybe even a programme and some key milestones in relation to the construction effort wouldn’t go amiss either.
It would certainly go towards helping explain any apparent delays.

But, I digress. The big cosmic bad is good in small doses but, they run the risk of overprescribing it when we’re constantly jumping from one completely new setting and environment to the next.
I do think having a momentary pause like this for repose, before our next foray into the unknown, would help the writers marry up the old lore with the new material they’ve so far introduced too… or at the very least provide a good opportunity and familiar setting in which to do so. This would be in order to achieve a better semblance of continuity between the two before they drift further afield where it becomes increasingly harder to fix without major retcons.

Yeah, especially since they kinda seem to have decided to cut their losses and make everything within the “old world” 100% optional through Chromie time. I mean, it makes sense not to force more than 10-year-old content on new players, but given the choice of updating it so it isn’t as old and just dropping it, they chose the latter.

I’d say there are more than a few story hooks specifically regarding Lordaeron right now. We have the current Forsaken situation and blighted Lordaeron city, we have the Scarlet Brotherhood and the pretender to the throne, we have Calia Menethil and her actual offspring, we have fresh content and character arcs for Uther, Alexandros, Turalyon and probably Arthas, heck, even Kel’Thuzad was around for some time, and a certain Dreadlord seems to be about to pay us a visit in 9.1. There is tons to do in Lordaeron for both factions, so if they were to stick with their BfA model of restoring zones one by one and only to inclue endgame content… well, the plaguelands and Tirisfal seem to be best-placed for that.

Since some of the story-hooks are related to characters we hopefully won’t see again after Shadowlands, I have the feeling that it either will be used during this addon… or not as a big story with a revamp at all, thouh. But I guess we’ll see.
