In case people were interested they are testing two M+ dungeons this weekend:-
Please stop praising or being OK with FOMO-stuff…
This is a game… supposed to be fun…
Not fomo…
Im working on achievement in stress now and RNG factors in abomination factory is crushing my heart…
People are probably just upset because it’s content and stuff keeps getting removed. We’ve got so little stuff over SL’s timespan, and things get removed. Obviously seasonal content from mythic and PVP usually leaves, no problem there (well, maybe something I expect to happen.) but other normal things getting removed is silly.
Looking at this FoS itself, it still takes time and RNG to get On the Offensive. The Enlightened, Ve’nari and Marasmius grind can take a month-ish each as that’s the typical time it takes to get exalted with a faction. If a player doesn’t no-life the whole FoS, it’ll take a few months to complete. It’s still a lot of time and effort, and you get rewarded at the end.
All they really need to do is just look at these achievements and other content and really think ‘Does this need to be time-limited, or can we just keep it in considering it does still take time to obtain?’. Another more cynical way they can just keep it in is literally looking at the time thing and putting the big-boy business hats on and say ‘Oh hey, it’s more content they can do, they’ll stay subbed for longer if it’s kept in’.
Exactly this! Especially for people who didn’t play at that time. I am working on BFA/Legion achievements now since I didn’t play the game back then, and not rushing and doong it at my own phase is huge QoL for me (especially things like Mecha-Done and Usurper Below achievements).
I don’t care about this title and that’s the reason why I am not forcing myself to do it, even if I am pretty close (I am missing torghast, Kyrian and Night Fae conservatory games). I find it very stressful with time-gating.
If you break it down, its not that hard, most of it should have been done just by playing the game. The Sanctum achieves are a little longer, but this does not have to be completed on a single char. I simply looked at my characters and which had the most done on their Sanctums and mixed and matched who did what. The only one i had completed was the NF. Kyrian took me a day or 2, necro took me a couple of weeks, done on main as she was Necro before changing to kyrian. Venthyr was done on alt, had not done any of the ember court, so took 3/4 weeks. There are some great guides on wowhead on how to do this efficiently.
The content doesn’t get removed, only the achievement from doing the content, you can still do all the content inside of the achievement.
Or put a gold star in the corner of the achievement to indicate timely completion.
This seems a better way of doing it with this sort of achievement.
For season activities with currencies such as Valor or Honor then a reset is required to maintain fairness.
With challenging content such as Mythic Raiding or even Mage Tower then different abilities and better gear will alter the challenge and so having Curve type achievements make sense.
But for grinding out not particularly difficult open world content I see no reason to FOMO it. Nobody is running around boasting about having done Molten Front dailies for 3 months during Cata rather than during Legion.
Start earlier and it won’t be stressful. You waiting till the last minute is your own doing.
Removing content you paid someone to create is a bad bussiness model in general.
I just don’t get why people like the exclusivity. You have the date on your FoS, so you can always brag with it, if you feel the need of bragging. Why do you feel inferior to other people who done it years later?
Not really. There is no need to have duplicated achievements having every mythic raid have a cutting-edge achievement and mythic boss kill achievement when both things are essentially the same thing, killing a mythic raid boss. Doing when it is current and doing it later does not change the what, it just changes the when. So, they can combine both achievements into a single achievement making the achievement earned when is current receives the gold color/star that will effectively make it a cutting-edge achievement and the same achievement without a special color/star for those who did it later so it will become a normal mythic raid achievement.
The exclusivity for people who do it when it is current remains with the gold color/star and the rewards, which could be limited only to achievements earned when is current. It would even be possible for Blizzard to show different names and descriptions for achievements earned with and without a gold star, to reflect that difference.
I do not understand why Blizzard since they created the achievement system has neglected to use the information about when an achievement was completed. It has been there since the start yet it has been always ignored, overloading FOS achievements with continuous duplicated achievements instead of using the data to differentiate who did it before and who did it after.
That reset could be done by allowing people to complete each season the same season achievements. Maybe having a star per season instead of one gold star for some achievements, which means Blizzard should change the system to track multiple dates for seasonal achievements. It could also be used for things that are not removed but modified like city leaders replaced or old dungeons revamped, this could incentivize people to do it again because it is different, but without removing their already earned achievement.
This will reduce the overload of FOS achievements, those things should be limited to content really removed from the game, that is really impossible to complete, like completing a dungeon, BG, or quest chain that is no longer in-game.
I agree, this achievement shouldn’t be FOMO in the first place. But given that Blizzard wants to make it FOMO anyway something like my proposal will reduce the damage. At the same time given this idea allow to reduce the FOMO by only making in this case FOMO a mark (that doesn’t seem as important as a mark for a cutting-edge achievement) and a title (wich given many people has hundred to choose I am not sure if most will care), I am sure Blizzard won’t do it anyway.
Blizzard, I beg you on my knees! We fought like no one with Jailer and saved Azeroth and we automatically deserve this achievement! Please fix this rotation and RNG on pre-patch!!! Many people are going to be really pissed if they won’t be able to get this achievement especially if Abomination Factory is the last one and on top of that I read many players will unsub and won’t play Dragonflight due to this.
nah not really, you had 2 years to do it.
Feeling a bit entitled, aren’t we?
Well, we not knew it will be going agay… it was a strong possibility, we should have knew knowing Blizzard’s policy when it comes to meate achievemnets, but still… hope springs eternal
Debatable
There is nothing wrong such achievments, but a warning… I mean at the start of the expansion, “okay guys, here is this one… make sure you will do it in the next two years because it WILL go away. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! Clock starting NOW” would really solve the problems
Communication
Marvelous thing
B@MPing this so devs might see it before pre-patch and make a fix for this god awful quest Abominable Lives https://www.wowhead.com/achievement=14684/abominable-lives
Having learned of the ach from this thread, I decided to have a go and check if its any obnoxious to do and to my surprise, I completed it yesterday. Obviously I had a bunch of the sub achievements done so it wasnt a start from scratch but gotta admit that in itself it strikes a decent balance between not being just a participation trophy and not close to impossible due to some RNG or an ach that would have taken 12 hours of play per day to do.
If Blizz can have one such meta FoS for an expansion (just as the only outdoor FOMO one), that wouldnt be so bad. I just cant quite trust they can always strike such balance and that they will keep the FOMO stuff to only a few items.
I didnt wait until last minute. I have worked on it on and off entire expansion. I have played other toons and not mega focused on it every week cause I did not know it was going away.
Now I might get screwed over cause of RNG quest…
Stop excusing FOMO… its depressing and not a good look on you.
If you think I look bad because I have my own preferences than you look worse than I do lmao.
You defend FOMO. Nuff said…
It’s mind-boggling how people here will go leg and arm to defend stupid Achievement design and FOMO. And why you keep bringing Mage Tower which was made TRIVIAL during 7.3? Or CE which is either a group/skill trial or simply gold farm? None of those apply in the slightest to this meta achievement, even Champion of Azeroth required you to get some PvP rating, here it’s just dumb easy questing (Torghast as of now is a joke). Which basically makes this another Firelands or ToT meta.
I can’t fathom why should I also follow every wowhead article if I pay for the game, not for game+regular website visits. I was caught off guard with Veilstrider, but I have most things done, so Abominable Lives will be probably only reason why I might not get it.
Here’s a proposition for non-listening Blizzard devs - make quests go on same rotation. Still RNG, but at least we can be sure, that we will get them all done by the end of expansion.
