Needed 60 instead of 90, I guess you forgot their point about 90 crests few months ago. You guys gonna defend blizzard at all cost
And now u need 30 instead of 60 for the remaining ilvl.
You are also fully able to use 60 still and craft to 675 instead of 681. If u want 681 then do the tiny amount of work thats needed for it instead of crying on the forums.
You need 90 crests for the highest ilvl craft.
Im fully aware. U thought u would get the extra 6 ilvl completely free?
Free? I want max ilvl to be stable, did they increase ilvl for pvpers too?
Blizzard is clearly fumbling. Mid-season ilvl increase is just forced FOMO an artificial grind wall with zero justification. And yeah, a handful of forum dwellers might be hyped but let’s not pretend they speak for anyone but themselves. The rest of us aren’t buying into this nonsense.
Ah so it isnt about the crests, its about not liking ilvl going up. Then just say that.
How does the ilvl increase forces FOMO? What do you fear to miss?
It doesn’t. They just have to complain about literally everything and they think that throwing in this weeks buzzword makes it relevant or something.
It’s really just a bit of a player retention thing so people see more gear and decide to spend a bit more time farming it. I suppose it also makes things a bit easier for those trying to get to 3k etc, which is a nice bonus for them.
It’s FOMO because standing still means falling behind. Your gear didn’t get worse but now it’s not enough. If you don’t keep up with the new upgrade cap, you risk being undergeared. Not just now, but in the beginning of next season as well. It’s not about chasing new goals — it’s about maintaining the spot you already earned.
Its constant pressure to log in and grind, just to stay where you were. Worst design possible.
Blizzard leans on this treadmill because they cant make the game engaging in more meaningful ways like designing more interesting dungeons, giving cooler rewards, or giving players reasons to log in that aren’t just fear of being left behind. It’s FOMO 24/7, dressed up as “progression.”
I guess you also forgot that they said that at a time where upgrading an item to full cost 75 crests. They literally decreased the crafting cost to 60 so that it was the same crest per ilvl to normally upgrading an item.
Now that they added 2 more upgrades, they increased the upgrade cost of normal upgrades also, so they HAD to increase the cost of crafting also.
If they do not do that, then the optimal way to upgrade an item would be to craft an item, just to unlock the free upgrades, and then upgrade the last step of the myth track item.
I guess the only thing that they should change is that when you have unlocked discount on all slots, they should let you buy the upgrade items with discount.
This new cap is reachable by just doing weekly activities (like M+ in your case) and you will reach it in a few weeks. Grind is required only if you need to reach this cap this week.
Mid season ilvl increases are dumb because they invalidate percentage based seasonal goals by raising the bar further than it could previously be raised.
Most people do grind. If you are playing the game just for the gear you might not care… at least until you stop getting invited to +10s because you going to compete with some who did grind. Most people have already grinded, and now there’s the question… why invite someone with 670 ilvl when you can invite someone with 680? They shouldn’t have lifted the cap completely either. And if you have multiple characters, it feels even worse, completely chaotic and overwhelming to keep up and your previous effort feel pointles. ( I won’t even start with the cost of re-crafting… they knew what they were doing) I guess they need to show Microsoft how many people are playing right now and this is the only way to achieve that. Horrible decisions.
Yes. Conquest gear now scales to 684 instead of 678.
Its naive to think that you won’t get invited to 670.
As well, as there is not so much to farm. I already upgraded my main from 675 to 681 just by doing only a part of weekly activities (3 delves + reclear of Mythic) and buing gilded crests for lower ones.
yeah, I will not to +13 and +14, the keys I was progessing before this level increase.
Im sorry. Falling behind in what sense?
Because I was about to quit until S3. 14/15+ is the limit of my skill. Im tired of wiping over and over again on +14s. Game over.
Others were gonna quit as well. Farming the same +8s 10s over and over again. Or wiping to the same boss over and over again. Or simply doing the same delves/WQ again and again.
What were you going to do with your “gains” so far? NOTHING. Same as me, same as everyone else.
Now I can push 1 or 2 key levels more. A bit more fun for a couple of months.
The only ones that can truly, 100% complain that they have to play to avoid “falling behind” are the 0.1% tittle. LITERALLY 0.1% of the M+ playerbase (just M+, with out counting anything else).
For everybody else, Dejarous already stated the obvious:
And it still is, and better. Now you take even less time cause there is no cap.
bizzilion ? you get 20 if you time a 12 my guy , calma.
i tried to do a +14 to see if i’ll get more , i still got 20 , blizzard once again training their loyal customers goo goo ga ga , instead of increasing the crest per timed dungeon , they give you flat 20 on a +16 even like hello.
i stoped playing when the new patch went live after i’ve seen that we back to the same 90 bs crests even on alts like hello ? no point farming anyway when you done with all the stuff you want to do , now go back to crest farming you peons.

Except that now we get like a bizzilion crests per dungeon PLUS they are uncapped.
It’s better, but it’s still way too high, 90 crest per piece, it’s HUGE. It’s almost impossible to get correct rerolls because of that, it takes too much playing time

My experience so far is that I am sitting with 330 Guilded Crests and zero Valorstones. If there was a way to get 4k Valorsones instantly I could upgrade all my gear to max today. But I cant.
So in may case. For some weird strange reason, Guilded Crest acquisition is not the limiting factor.

now go back to crest farming you peons
I genuinely believe that farming things in M+ is a degenerate behavior. Its 100% blizzard’s fault for promoting that behavior through the reward system, but still.
In an ideal scenario, people should simply play dungeons for fun. For no other reason. And gear/rewards should simply drop from the sky.
However. It’s so lucrative to spam +7s for crests, and 8 +10s for vault that its what most people do. And by the time they are done with that process they are so sick of dungeons that they prefer to create an alt and do something else instead.

Well. Thing is that IMO 60 was a good amount. Adequate. 90 is 2 more dungeons than before. For someone like me that does nothing else but M+, because I genuinely enjoy to do the dungeons… that simply comes automatically.
However. If you are an individual that deliberately is farming M+ with out enjoying it, to acquire a piece of crafted gear to then use in the content you actually enjoy. Then that is what Blizzard should work in. Either they give you the 90 crests you need in that content you enjoy. Or they make dungeons such that you enjoy them enough that doing 2 more dosent represent such a big deal.
That is my opinion atleast.
