Back to Bottom Monks

Just checking all the logs for the raid last night in mythic US

Glad to see Monk is back to bottom on every boss, good job at fixing the issue blizzard.

oh wait, a mistake

2nd from bottom on N’zoth…

unbelievable, honestly…

I am unsubscribing, because I don’t want to reroll to pally. RIP fun.
And i have to add I was playing only m+.

Just ran a Junk+17, two-chesting it. So far so good. No mana or healing issues so far.

  1. Mate it is fortified.
  2. So what if you keep ppl alive, if all the fun is gone.

It’s still fun. I can throw in a refresh from time to time, the world will not end.

But you do you. As far as I’m concerned, mythics up to 17 haven’t changed one bit, and I’m still having fun playing an RM build.

Have fun for the rest of us then  GL

Well I did an 18 KR and 17 Shrine yesterday and everything is still fine and haven’t had any mana or healing issues, but then again it’s fortified.

You’ll definitely feel the nerf next week in tyrannical with higher keys where the boss fights takes about 4 minutes to kill a boss, but nothing some stat rearragment and optimization can’t fix.

Regarding fun that’s debatable and subjective. It’s still fun/favorite class for me.

Ok. Tell me then, how did it affect your overall dps?

It’s about the same since the majority of my DPS in M+ comes from Twilight Devastation rank 3? The rest is rising sun kick and spinning crane kick. I’m averaging 30-36k overall and generally account for 6-10% of total dungeon damage, it varies based on what dungeon it is.

Same as majority of my dps. You got same amount of TD procs as prenerf?

The only reason you’re getting less procs is, from what I see, you having 8% haste. Clearly you reduced your haste by at the very least 20% so obviously you’re going to get significantly less. I personally wouldn’t be able to run 8% haste, sounds incredibly slow.

You are looking at WW. On MW gear i got base 42% + procs. I just ask straight: are intensivity of using your offensive abilities went lower after the nerf (what results in less TD proc)?

You need to fix your stats. You have higher haste meaning your other stats are weaker, so have to heal more because you can’t perma enveloping mist anymore. All you need is a max of 30% base, meaning you have higher crit and versatility so your heals heal for more meaning you can spend more time dpsing. I’m currently running 18% haste + the random procs, and I have no issue keeping 5 renewing mists on the party.

I will check. I hope to see your relation of Sisters or Galvazzt next week

I did 17 on both of those in tyraniccal with my current stats last week (aka no EnM on all of the party) and I managed to heal both without an issue.

Minmaxers in a nutshell

Cheers mate, gl hf.

Yea. when i q for m+ PPl started to replay to my they dont want monk monk is useless now

I really don’t like the nerf. I get why it’s been done, even though realistically it should impact only the current patch (unless they plan to have a billion haste proc again in Shadowlands, but BfA has to be the way too many procs expansion, I hope at least).

However it makes the Mistweaver a very elitist spec that is much harder than any other healing spec without peforming any better than the others. I don’t see the point to run a Mistweaver when Discipline priest can do the exact same things a lot safer and a lot easier.

I wish this change was made with additions to the fistweaving gameplay to make it more interactive and not just based on that one gimmick of making HoT last for longer. Why not having an interaction with our mastery when using melee abilities with a talent or something ?

I recently made a Paladin and then my Monk both healers and instantly had fun with the Paladin even with hot garbage gear. My Monk is a chore to play in any difficult content and I feel I am constantly underperforming, the gear required to perform well is much more critical than any other healing spec and the requirements as well in terms of execution during fights is also harder.

Why bothering with playing Monks at this point when they have the less love going into Shadowlands (not surprised though sadly) while classes like Paladin keep having new toys to play with and are the king of the block with very low effort ?

I don’t think this is true, crusader strike now costs 12% mana from 0% in Shadowlands. It’s not longer as viable to just be melee and spam abilities and have absolutely no mana issues, you’re actually going to have think about when to use CS, because if you spam it as you do now you will 100% be OOM before the boss is killed.

MW into shadowlands feels very barebones still. Upwelling build seems a bit stronger with kyrian ability as from the numbers I’m seeing it seems like you actually get a raid CD. (Problem with MW is that you only have one with revival). This recent rising mist change is not applied in shadowlands as there will be no corruption procs and you won’t be able to have 50% haste base regardless.

Personally I hope they make fistweaving a viable and comparable spec to the upwelling build, in a different manner than it is now.

However they did increase the mana cost of vivify and enveloping mist which I do not understand. MW has always been a mana intensive class, and essences like memory of lucid dreams as well as ever rising tide has been a band-aid fix to support our mana issues.
