im struggeling with my Balance Druid.
On Bosses my DPS is fine but on smaller Groups (2-4) my DPS is really bad.
I don’t know what im doing wrong.
My rotation for Multitarget is like -> Moonfire all Targets -> Sunfire -> Starfall -> Lunar Eclipse -> Starfire -> (Maintain Dots+ SF) -> Lunar Eclipse -> Wrath/Starfire (on more than 5 Targets).
hey, i dont play boomie but i think i know how to help. Do you roll your face on the keyboard right to left or left to right? For boomies its better to do it left to right
Outside of convoke your dps will depend on making sure you are using boat effectively and the tank’s pull sizes as your aoe benefits from being unbound. Could be worse, you are in the best covenant and have the best lego for boomie.
I’m in the same BOAT (oh no he didn’t!) - I see other Boomie’s with similar ilevels and gear smashing out huge DPS numbers, I spend time at the dummies, use CA carefully in conjunction with dots, starfall and convoke but my output is just embarrassing at times!
I’ve tried various recommended talent setups and just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
A common mistake in AoE fights is wasting too many GCDs by casting DoTs on mobs that die well before the DoTs expire on them. DoTs are already quite weak, and are even weaker when they don’t last for the full duration.
As far as I know, the Shooting Stars passive does not benefit from multiple applications of Moonfire/Sunfire. Just having 1 Moonfire and 1 Sunfire is sufficient to maximize Shooting Stars.
Also, you don’t want to spend multiple GCDs on Sunfire, since it’s damage is very low. If mobs are together in a tight pack, you’ll want to use 1 GCD on Sunfire to maximize its effectiveness by applying it to many mobs with 1 cast, but you usually don’t want to use multiple Sunfire casts on mobs that are spread all over the place.
As a moonkin your prio is to be in eclipse as much as possible.
Basically you should start with sunfire (if mobs are stacked) then starfall if you have 50 energy, then enter eclipse asap.
Casting moonfire depends on how long the pack will live and in which eclipse you are. If you are in ~5+ pack and lunar eclipse just spam starfire and keep starfall up, if in solar you can dot moonfire if mobs will live for 10-15s at least.
Main thing is to always be in eclipse, only casts outside would be the 2 spells to get into the next eclipse.
Always sunfire. If it’s less than 4 mobs, you can moonfire, if it’s more than 4 mobs, then moonfire only in solar eclipse. If you are at 3 targets or less, normal rotation of eclipses. if you are at 4 or more targets, only cast starfire, even when in solar eclipse, but still proc your eclipses. If you are at 8+ targets, only spam starfire, don’t mind eclipses.
Use starfall on 2+ targets, Maintaining starfall has priority over dots because it extends them. Always pool AP over 50 so you can extend starfall (this will no longer be relevant next patch cuz blizzard wants us to be in pain).
Always try to have 90 AP before going into next eclipse to benefit from BoaT leggo (not relevant next patch as it seems we will be venthyr with venthyr leggo)
Only refresh dots when they are in pandemic windows, that goes for starfall too.
