Bad news for all

So instead of using twitch for downloading and updating addons, that with all it’s ups and downs it is a reliable page, we are going to use an awful…thing… that it’s Overwolf, that is known to track and install things in your pc sneakily. Plus advs are comming back.

What do you think guys?

I take it you are posting because of this article:

In case people are wondering what it’s about.

Been installing and updating addons manually for years, never used that thing, not a great loss it seems.

We? WE??

BWA-HA-hahahahahahaha!

I never loaded the Curseforge client. I never loaded the Twitch client. I’ll never load the whatever-else client.

I don’t want any of that crap anywhere near my PC. And don’t even think of trying to tell me that Brand X is fine … just not Brand Y.

Never really used it so nothing important was lost.I always added my add-ons manually.

The whole culture of bigger fish buying up everything smaller every 6 months and feeling the need to completely rebrand is honestly so mentally fatigueing.

Why can’t they just buy Curse, and let it be? Why do they have to make THEIR OWN reskinned version of the same thing that requires moving files and creating new accounts and linking crap

If the new platform sucks then the addons will move to a better platform.
Easily done, it’s just a file serving website.

CurseForge, Twitch, and I guess now Overwolf do not own the addons.

It was the only reason I had the pointless Twitch app though, so at least I can uninstall that now.

I use the twitch client because it’s convenient… however I still remember the two times it has decided to put addons from wow classic into the retail install and completely screwed up the game, so as Catherine Tate would say…

Think I might just quit the game instead of using Overwolf.

I use more then 20 addons, and i manage them manually, since 2006.

If people are lazy and need a app to manage their addons for them, then they shouldnt complain about the “cost” for such service.
Dont be lazy, manage your addons, take back control.

Its a few minutes per week…

Eeak, im ashamed to say ive forgotten how to manage it manually :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking in my addons folder thats over 190 folders… Time to declutter I think. But might look at some github opensource versions…

I might as well just make my own. Most addons that I use have a git repo. So basically a script that just checks out the git repos into the addon folder and then git pull them all to update. Can’t be that hard. Like what? 200 LoC?
