^ this, lol.
DBM is probably one of the least impactful raid/dungeon addons at this point.
There are a few very specific weakauras that give assignments on some mythic raid bosses but all in all addons are less likely to be banned than the people who propose banning them.
Addons are cancers of WoW. It has grown so deep into the body that it affects every parts of game today: from combat design, UI customisation to even AH, RP and transmog, mounts collections.
The replies show that many players donât even know how to play the game without them nowadays. A lot of them are too afraid of the treatment, that they prefer wow to wait and die from cancer than removing the tumor and cure.
We see this type of thread pop up from time to time, and the response is always overwhelmingly in favor of keeping addons in the game.
If you donât want to play with addons, simply donât use them.
This again. Dont use them, learn the fights without them. Its possible.
Of course it is possible. That is why they are not necessary and shall be banned.
its a few years to late to remove all addons by now I think
No. I disagree with you there.
No thanks.
I enjoy scripting stuff in the game i like to play for years now, its a game in a game for me.
Then what is even a problem with that bag addon?
The game is designed for customizations by the players themselves. It was a design-choice. And now you come here i am not allowed to use an addon to upsize the font of the quest-window?
I think thatâs probably true. Also, Blizzard doesnât show required information like Boss timers by default, even though they easily could.
The UI settings are a mixed bag. The default nameplates are horribly bad. The Buff window is a mess. The UI itself is fine.
I agree, but I think Weakauras especially are very bad, because what happens is that Blizzard sometimes just throws a chaotic mess randomly into the game and let the community order it themselves with weakauras. I donât know how enhancement shaman is right now, but before this patch they had like 6 buffs to keep track of, which basically requires weakaura.
Iâm probably about as anti-addon as they come. I keep my usage of them extremely limited â Iâve got just three installed at most, 2 of which are a requirement for my raid team.
Banning addons is not the answer.
What Blizzard should do, is make the game less reliable on addons. Communicate boss mechanics better. Make UI elements like the AH less of a pain to use. If youâre gonna put in trinkets that add whole extra mechanics to your gameplay (looking at you, Treacherous Transmitter), make it possible to track these things more easily without the need for weakauras.
But yeah, no, donât ban addons.
DBM is a response to inadequate UI elements within the game, just like most addons. If they banned addons I wouldnât play anymore.
Standing in the middle here
I wouldnt ban ALL add-ons, but i would investigate/think of the ones that bring the most toxicity in the game atm.
QOL, UI improvements etc are fine AFAIC. What i hate about add-ons are the elements that just pull data to the surface that dont bring anything really valuable to the core of the game but rather trigger wrong/sad/toxic behaviours.
If you managed to kill a boss, fine. No need to be on Joeâs back because he did 1,34% less DPS than Jane, or Jack because he was 0,2564 sec late on his 3rd interrupt
Boss addons like DBM - yes
Weakauras - only if blizz give us option in UI to customize it even further, you canât play some classes without tracking some procs
QOL addons like rare finder or WQ helpers - hell no we need those
Todd Howard is that you?
You dont take my fave addons away! Keep them
You really just burned your whole argument with this fairly ludicrous, alarmist, comment.
But keep it up
This shows how deeply addons are already affecting the game, that some players wonât even play wow today without addons.
It shows addon is a fundamental problem in wow and root cause for many other issues in the game.
Thanks for bumping up.
