The fix would be for blizzard to build the addons into the game, but I’d still prefer to use 3rd party addons because they get more development and can be customised better. The game is far better because of addons, just like Skyrim is far better because of mods.
Addons are a blessing to this game and one of the reasons it has done so well.
OP thinks the game is intentionally made harder and more convoluted and poorly telegraphed. Because of addons I think…
However its a little too late to go back on addons by now.
One thing i do think kinda sucks though is that allot of addons and weak auras are not exactly common knowledge when you go into m+ and raids as a new player. Someone has to tell you witch to get.
When he has a problem with 1 specific detail in the game using some kind of addon, he should not talk about addons in general, or use a title like “Ban All Addons”.
This isn’t the first time this topic appears… It stems from a Blizzard statement from the past. That they do take addons into account when they develop their game mechanics.
Leading allot of people to believe that the game and its mechanics are made harder to compensate for the help that addons give.
Some people believe that without addons. Blizzard would develop a simpler gameplay in m+ and raids. Although I am not so sure that would end up being the reality.
Sorry but I win. I don’t use any addons, and most likely never will. Idm QoL addons like UI ones, but stuff like DBM I’ll never touch. It fundamentally changes the game.
Yes, it stems from a statement of the past. But after SL season 3 they made another statement. That was probably the hardest raid ever and it was a rat race with addons that RWF raiders made. Blizz said they aren’t going to do it anymore since it hurts the normal raiding playerbase.
In the meantime they started improving the basic UI and they are trying to improve visible and audio indicators of mechanics.
So people see some statement of expansions ago and go on a tantrum on the forums right now.
Because you don’t raid mythic. I disabled everything in bigwigs since I like to keep my UI clean but certain weakauras are mandatory for coordination, like on M Broodtwister.
We can see blizz making an effort to avoid mechanics that rely on addons, but this has to come entirely from them. You can’t kindly ask the player base to not use any advantage they can, and the cringe threads about banning all addons won’t change anything.
~Yea, because in the real world Blizz are scouring the EU forums looking for high post threads to action, never mind threads where the responses overwhelmingly disagree with the Op~.
Lets go into the future… Lets play with the thought. Blizzard announces tomorrow that all addons will be disabled.
What do you think the reaction will be? Do you think players will have more fun without them? Cause I dont… I can understand wanting blizzard to develop the game less around addons… But its way too late to suddenly take it all away tomorrow. Its too extreme…
Allot of players will loose their fun with this measure. The damage this would cause.
Addons have been apart of the game for 20 years now… To suddenly take it all away next patch for example? Like imagine… Just picture it. I don’t think the majority of endgame players would celebrate it exactly.
