So, so far it worked like that - a busy and clueless Andy buys a token for gold he pays to be carried in a heroic raid he’d never have time to clear to due to work/responsibilities. Since it’s for gold he is content he doesn’t break ToS, and the community carries him, some boosters get gold and pay for their sub.
Now the community is gone but Andy still wants to get a carry.
No one will take his gold because if Blizzard discovers an account with excessive gold carrying characters etc. they might ban that account.
BUT
they can go to Discord. Andy will pay token equivalent via Paypal and will get carried in game as a friend. People organizing the carry will share later or per customer or whatever they come up with.
The prices will go up as well.
I mean… the carries for gold weren’t perfect for the game but they weren’t really disruptive - like why do you care the Andy will get carried to a heroic kill? In logs it’ll show he is a boosted pleb.
the only disruptive part of boosting communities is/was PvP… but frankly most PvP boosters seem to be individuals advertising themselves in LFM. Gold boosting was basically M+ and raids… and frankly who cares that some bad players complete a heroic run?
I… I don’t raid mythic but… I don’t care someone buys a mythic sylvanas boost because I pity the fool for spending so much $$ for tokens or for RMT to get a stupid mount and FoS lmao.
SO - the boosting will continue - some of it will be RMT and some boosting will be still done by communities that will turn into guilds on big servers (maybe?).
there are already a lot of sites where you can buy boosts for real money, always have been, it doesnt really change anything. so imo this was a good move.
yes but people won’t stop buying boosts because gold communities are gone - the RMT ones will get more customers. So that was a bad move in the end.
Also why allow guilds and individuals while disallowing communities? That will cuck people on dead realms on both booster/boostee side while some people from dead realms will move to big realms for boosting… inflating overpopulation xd
tbh i dont care. if you want to risk your account by breaking the rmt rule then go ahead. now its riskier again to buy boosts as they arent as common available anymore without any strings attached. might even turn people away from buying boosts because they dont want to risk it.
imo its way too early to comment on it, only time will tell how much of an impact it really had.
