Im just going to be honest about my situation because I think Im really close to a permanent ban on my wow1 license.
Ive had multiple punishments for abusive chat in pvp situations – specifically in rated bgs and similar environments. These are the penalties Ive gotten so far:
7 day mute
7 day suspension
10 day suspension
15 day suspension
They all happened because I have issues with anger, especially when other players behave in extremely toxic ways. I lose control sometimes and say really harsh things when pushed too far. Im not proud of it but it keeps happening. Outside of pvp Ive never had any problems. No reports, no warnings, nothing. In raids, dungeons or casual play Im always respectful.
Im writing this because I feel like the next time I slip up its almost guaranteed Ill get a permanent ban on wow1. And honestly I think it will happen. Im doing my best to stay calm but when I get flamed or griefed in pvp I still snap. I know its my responsibility to fix that but its been really hard.
I also have a wow2 license under the same battlenet account which has never had any issues. So I have a few questions I really want clear answers to:
If I get permanently banned on wow1, will that affect my wow2 license
If I break the rules again on wow1, is it guaranteed that the next punishment will be a permanent ban
If wow1 gets permanently banned, and then later I get reported on wow2, will the penalty system on wow2 start stacking from zero, or will I instantly get a permanent ban there too because of my account history
Are punishments shared between licenses, or does each wow license have its own escalation system
Im not trying to excuse what Ive done but Id really like to know exactly where I stand. Even if the answer is bad I just want to be sure. I know Im very likely to get banned again on wow1 because of my anger issues, but Im trying to understand if that means game over for the rest of my account too.
Contact and seek help with support (maybe CS forum, maybe via mail), no one here can give a useful answer to you here.
Besides of sanction discussions are prohibitet in general.
Maybe you should consider to disable the chat so you won’t end up getting permanently banned. As for your questions, I don’t think any of the members here will know, and good luck getting a reply from those that would know… you can try the customer support part of the forums, might have better luck there.
Considering that people are having seasonal ranks and mounts and titles under same bnet account between multiple accounts and just play new alts with old accounts seasonal ranks linked to new accounts, the answer is that ppl just create new accounts
There is one addon also that toggles disable chat between shuffles for you and it lets you talk with your mates from bnet while filters the chat from randoms in shuffles. Or you can just have bnet msg in some different tab and only have it on during shuffles so the rest you dont have to read during game.
Sorry, but i cant follow. If you are trying to give clarification about how mounts and achievements are shared between multiple wow license on the same account then I already know that and this was not any of the questions above, but thank you!
I mean that I can see hundreds of people playing with accounts with achievements that are not from the alts they have on the account. The ranks and mounts and stuff are shared between bnet account. If its common, then what this would tell us. We cant know for sure but we can guess based on what we observe and deduce. I would imagine you continue play on wow2 and thats it. If your hypothesis would be right we would also have even more dead playerbase in pvp so I think its the opposite from what you were asking.
Yes, that is very good, like I said, I already knew that and this was not even my question. What I want to know is whether future penalties stack on the WoW2 license or not. The reason I am asking is because I will not buy gametime or the expansion for WoW2 until I get an answer to this. These bans feel like knives hanging above my head that could fall on me at any moment, and once they do, I will not be able to pull them out anymore. Also, turning off chat is only a half solution because I will not see the chats where I actually have normal interactions, like trade chat or guild.
Haven’t read the whole thread so apologies if someone has already mentioned this but there’s an addon that sounds like it was made just for you. It’s called ‘MuteOrBan’ and you can get it on Curseforge.
“MUTEorBan disables outgoing chat in battlegrounds and arenas to help prevent mutes or bans from chat-related reports. It blocks messages in say, yell, party, and instance chat channels while allowing incoming messages to remain visible.”
Disclaimer: I haven’t used it myself so dunno how good an addon it is but maybe worth checking out.
We tend not to discuss the penalty system in public so as to avoid situations where players might game the system, or feel like they are able to misbehave up to some certain limit.
It is also constantly evolving and information may quickly become outdated.
The bottom line is, if you continue to violate the policy, you will eventually get banned.
I’m glad that you’ve realized the issue anyway, and there are many helpful tips here for how you can avoid further actions. I can only hope that you use them.
why we cant discuss the penalty system in public? is it perfect? Since you say this, you know how messed up the system is.
I have never heard such a ridiculous sentence. " We tend not to discuss the penalty system in public " what is this please explain to me? Can you tell me why it’s wrong to discuss what a terrible ban system you have?
Don’t want it to be seen and discussed that you’re banning people for stupid things and stealing their gaming time?
When you examine the chat logs, do you also ban people who insult or threaten us? Surely not.
I was just threatened with a 3-week ban. Why? I said someone " please leave "
because he was playing in other team and not mine on purpose.
Anyone who says this knows how terrible the system is, so they’re threatening.
And why. You people keep saying this. WHY? pleas give me 1 logical answer. Since you’re saying this, you’re aware of how disgraceful the system is, and you don’t want it talked about. Because if you do, you’ll get a reaction.
I understand that you cannot disclose everything about the penalty system, and I am not asking for exact internal numbers or thresholds. What I am asking is whether penalties are tracked per WoW license, or account-wide across all licenses.
This is not about trying to game the system – I already explained that I am dealing with anger issues in pvp and I want to know if a mistake on one license means losing access to the other as well. This seems like a fair and reasonable question for a paying customer who wants to avoid getting permanently banned across the board.
If the answer is that you cannot say even that, I understand, but then I would appreciate if you could at least confirm whether WoW1 and WoW2 licenses are treated independently or not in terms of penalty escalation.
I came across another addon on Curseforge that made me think of this thread:
It’s called Be nice
“In today’s digital age, it’s easy to let emotions flow and words fly without thinking. This addon is designed to help players maintain a positive and respectful chat environment! Be nice won’t let you send a message if it contains something it shouldn’t!”
Again, I haven’t used it and so can’t say whether it’s any good but, again, maybe it’s worth checking out.
I understand where you’re coming from Sreknuj, but I’m afraid there isn’t a clear-cut answer and the reality is that it depends.
Any given penalty may also affect different aspects of your account in different ways and just because a closure is only preventing you from logging in to one specific license, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be taken into consideration for other cases, such as if the violations continue on another license.
Just assume the worst possible outcome, and act accordingly, and you don’t have to worry about it.
