Already been said but bears repeating - join a guild or make your own raids.
This only happens if the raid requires people to do mechs or any thing “hard”
People don’t want to have wipefest or spend hrs in something that is meant to take 50 min at most.
Blizzard should stop the forced difficulty in classic or these “Requirements” will keep becoming stricter.
That’s just not true. You cannot require people to pay for participation or loot, for example. You also cannot make up requirements based on people’s IRL race, I am sure. There are quite a few limitations that naturally follow from the game’s official rules. Clearly the OP wants the requirement to provide logs outlawed as well
try to stop it lol.
besides GDKP blizzard will do nothing to stop i.e racism when it comes to recruiting.
blizzard can’t sit there and say YOU MUST PLAY WITH THE BLACK GUY or whatever.
if someone makes a racist recruit message on the official chat channels you can report them and maybe they get a silence, but good luck trying to get anything done if they recruit people for their raid outside of the game, such as on discord.
also, good luck making a ticket with a “i was kicked from the raid for being black” vibe and see how far that takes you, kek.
Yes you are right, I just wanted to point out that the guy’s comment doesn’t make much sense because it refers to the current rules whereas the very point of the OP is to change the rules

I don’t think logs should be removed. But what I do think is blizzard really messed up going 10 man off the bat. If they made bfd and gnomer 40 man but with similar levels of difficulty just scaled for 40 man. Raid teams and guilds would have immediately been built for 40 man. And all the underperformers Spriest P1, rogues P2, enhance shaman the entirety of SoD , would have been diluted and people wouldn’t have cared anywhere near as much. Nor would parselords have been so picky in pugs cos they just want the numbers. And I would bet that pugs would have been just as frequent P1 with 40 man as they were with 10man.
yep. opening that creak in the door gave all the whiners the leverage they needed to campaign for raidsize nerfs.
MC was supposed to be 40 man - all endgame raids were to be 40 man, they outright said that at blizzcon.
but now that people smell the blood and the devs willingness to cater to their demands, they are campaigning harder than ever to make all the end-game raids 10 man sized, which is an utter joke.
a group of 10 people is not a raid… that’s a band…
It’s a shame. They just should have opened up with 40s.
Gonna take one hell of a p4 to bring me back though so more than likely makes little difference anymore to me
due to the size of BFD and Gnomer i would be willing to settle on 20 man for those, as they are objectively speaking tutorial-tier raids - and more importantly; not old legacy raids like MC, BWL etc. are.
one need look no further than bosses like Baron Aquanis to confirm this fact.
10 though? nah-uh man, that ain’t a raid.
Perhaps, atleast that would be making a clear statement. I do however doubt as many people would have started with SoD if that was the case.
Not being clear about who was their target audiance was the early winning concept of SoD. When Blizzard started to get forced into taking decisions and making statements about the future, thats when people realized they had been fooled.
Thats why Blizzard were very careful with saying anything too specific about the future, unlike they claims of Mr Potatohead above.
Rest is history I guess. Raiding numbers/population clearly show what people think/thought of SoD going into end-game. Left are the ERA/hardcore/retail boys that wouldnt quit WoW even if it was just running around in Barrens on a new server each week.
Blizzard opened new servers and developed “new” content to keep a audiance that wouldn’t leave in the first place. Isnt it funny ^^
ironic that the game is now dead then.
i have a feeling that it didn’t die because it was too hard, but that’s just a feeling.
its ultra casual nature causing everyone to be done with the game 2-3 weeks into the phase if they’re selfish enough to not care about their guild at all might have something to do with it though.
but that’s just a feeling.
a gamer feeling.
what are you implying here?
do you want me to pull up the blizzcon stream and point to the timestamp where they say the endgame is going to be 40 man?
much like they said endgame was going to be 40 man, they were also very clear that levelup raids were going to be 10 man, a timestamp i can also fetch for you, if you insist.
i sat there watching the live stream with my guildies dude. we were very upset with the 10 man size because that meant there wasn’t going to be room for all of us.
Not if you consider that the biggest drop offs came when they started to increase raid sizes. From that POV, it all makes perfect sence, as sizes increased - numbers went down. The treshold became higher in a game that was low investment at start, which many found fitting.
If people just wanted to experience the same old 40 man rinse and repeat raids as before, they had Hardcore and ERA. Clearly it wasnt the “we want the same old thing” people that came and left, they are still playing. As numbers show tho, they arent even close to the inital numbers.
Truth is, the very same people hanging around SoD now probably played both Classic, ERA and Hardcore. They would play whatever game Blizzard releases that is based on Vanilla. But thats not what the (now gone) majority returned for. Another round of MC with new spells zzz … if people didnt get bored of that 2005, they got another chance in 2019. By 2023 people simple just said “not again”.
you know what else came with the increased raid sizes?
incursions.
underwhelming loot.
content drought.
it is not an exaggeration to assume these 3 things did more damage to the game’s population than increased raid size could ever dream to.
correct. people wanted new FOURTY man raids. no one was out there saying “you know what, brand new raids is fine, but only if they are less than 40 man sized, or i won’t even play” before blizzard themselves brought up the idea of making sub 40 sized raids.
the only people who are still playing SOD at this point in time are certainly not die hard vanilla fans.
the only ones playing right now are the ultra casuals who just dinged lvl 50, the good players were done with every form of progression 2 weeks into the phase - especially pvp since rank 7 could literally be prefarmed in phase 2, which is what everyone did.
those that were done with all progression mere weeks after phase 3 released only played for the lulz and parses until about a month ago when they announced the delay during a time where people were already tapping their feet expecting some new content to be just around the corner, as in, this announcement came at a time where people were already getting impatient.
that announcement killed the game almost entirely, because people were just done with blizzard’s BS.
it is no secret that blizzards motive, ultimately, was to herd the classic playerbase into cataclysm where there is an in-game store to profit off of, you’d have to be extremely naive to think this wasn’t a calculated effort on blizzard’s part.
dude, can you quit it?
nobody, and i mean NOBODY, casual or hardcore, came to SOD expecting vanilla type raids, they came specifically because blizzard promised the forests, the mountains, the oceans AND the sky when they announced the game at blizzcon.
they came expecting classic PLUS SOME MORE as was advertised from the horse’s mouth, and yes i can pull up that clip too. i even saved a hard record of it for just such an occasion.
they came in expecting everything vanilla had, which includes MC, BWL, Ony, AQ 20/40, ZG and Naxx and on top of that get brand new raids to boot.
Blizzard has made the mistake of withholding and even walking back on the promises they made, and people have figured them out and simply said “you know what, if you’re gonna hold the new content hostage, i’m just gonna quit”.
it is nothing short of an utter joke that by the time we’re FINALLY allowed to get to lvl 60 where the real game is supposed to begin, we literally get NOTHING new, not even a new pvp event.
