Bandages no longer heal others?

I haven’t used them in ages, but then did that happen?
Apparently bandages cannot be used to heal someone else anymore.
Was this necessary? Another little unconventional emergency means of assisting someone else removed.

First Aid was removed a long ago, if I’m not mistaken currently Tailors are the only ones who can make bandages, and their healing is also rather minuscule when compared to healing potions too.

Yep end of Legion so 5 + years ago now.

But the thing is you could use bandages on some raid bosses to get their loot. Like that dreamer dragon in ice crown citadel, there is no way to get it’s loot anymore if you don’t have an ability to heal others. So potions and bandages have (had) different usages.

First aid was simply a separate profession. IIRC it didn’t alter the items you made. The bandages had a heal-other option if you target someone else. IIRC they were also freely shareable.
Sure, we could assume the profession was the trigger for being able to apply that use, but there is no reason to not assign that function to bandages on removal of the profession.

Bandages are not on the healing potions cooldown; in fact, not on a cooldown at all. They can be highly appreciated because you can use them in combat if you already used a potion but still need some extra healing to not die. (Especially valuable in PvP.) Their lack of cooldown is mitigated by the fact that you get a relatively slow channeled heal during which you cannot do anything else, not even move. - Sometimes that is nonetheless your lifeline.

Gameplay allowing all classes to apply such a small, spontaneous heal to another player is beautiful.

I swear I remember healing someone with a bandage fairly recently o.O
I’ll try when home in a few hours. That being said i just wish they were more useful ^^"

I just tested this and you can bandage others with it.

Was going to say, I have bandages on all my chars, and do heal other players when I see them in dire straights and it works :+1:

That is strange. I had selected another player (with PvP off, even, although in some cases I could buff a player with PvP on, strangely) who was not at full health and then used my bandage, and it didn’t seem to apply any healing to them. They still regged at passive speed.

Could it be that it got blocked due to level requirements then? Is there maybe no dynamic scaling but if you apply a bandage that requires level 60 by the user, it cannot be used on other players below that?
That would then be unlike how healing spells work, so I see no reason for it. Healing spells don’t even scale down unless you are in a scaled group like LFD.

So if I apply a wildercloth bandage to a badly injured level 20 player, I really expect to be noticing if it does something to them. (Even with floating combat text off, it should have shown some numbers in their unit frame. Instead everything indicated that I had tried to heal myself with it.)

Should they work on uninjured targets, too? Then I should try it some more, I guess.

In any case, the tooltip should make it clear that you can also heal others. Instead it suggests it’s just a personal consumable like any other.

PvP off, so was my target and we were both lvl 70, both of us were uninjured (was in the middle of Valdrakken)
When you heal lower lvl players the healing gets scaled down as far as I know.

Came across this exact thing recently. I’ve been playing Classic mostly for the last few years, but on retail I used to solo Dreamwalker with bandages and some other method on my Warrior. I logged in to solo ICC on a random warrior alt a couple days ago and realised I didn’t have any bandages and couldn’t make any.

It’s a weird decision with them removing first aid, and I remember it happening I had just forgot.
