Basic UI modifications/addons in game

Hello!

I was wondering can we have a basic UI modifications in game without the need of addons?
The addons that let us be enable to move actionbars, bag positions, main menu, map, chat, have been out there from Vanilla and are used a lot. So why not bake these in the game?

I would also suggest making more addons backed into the game, like;
-boss fight addon
-damage meter
-gathering stuff in minimap/worldmap
-world quest lists
-mouseover
-one bag bar
etc

The game would feel more complete if these are just baked in the game.
You can probably make these even better, and easier to setup than the fans who make these addons.
The best thing about it once you have it in game it exists as long as the game exists.
If for some reason most of the playerbase don’t really like the version you made you could just see what addons they are using instead and adjust yours to that. That way the game keeps on moves forward.

the level of customization people expect from addons can’t be incorporated into the base game. it would be a waste of resources to even try and most of the community would be unhappy with the result

why make addons baseline in the game when there are already addons that do the exact same thing and are maintained without blizz needing to pay for it,

that are also incredibly easy to install and setup

Maybe you are right, but there are enough resources used for systems that only last one expansion, and as far as I know most don’t even enjoy these. I rather have the basics addon stuff intro the game so I can play with a lot less addons in game. Even small additions like mouse over actions for healing abilities matters a lot. On my healers this usually takes up all my possible marco’s positions for my char, there would be no room for off-spec marco’s. So I need to be using a addon for mouseover what from my perspective could have been part of the game by now. Just an example. I don’t want full addons like elvui build in because these are way too much options and settings.

I would say they would be more stable, always supported, automaticly updated every patch.
Installing and updating an addon is usually not a issue.
If an addon you like isn’t updated for the patch, and turns out not working is bit of shame.
about setup, well it depends on the addon, there are enough addons need alot of time to even understand how to set these up, and some are very simple and handy, so simple they might as well be in game.

Not having to update an addon ever again, yeah sure, why not!

Well, there are a lot of things that Blizzard probably just goes “Let community sort it with addons”. I also wonder why do we need to have patch like 9.1.5 and not have those changes ready at release. Would be great stuff if they could do that and then make the game even better in later patches.

Seems like it’s a trend to make things worse on purpose and it feels like every new expansion, WoW is better to play after first patch with new tier is in.

I agree, but addons are so wildly successful it’s waste of their time.

yeah but why would blizzard want to have to go out of their way to spend money that they dont have to in order to do something that is already being done by other people, yeah some things not being updated right away can be annoying, but it doesnt normally take long,

you also have to take into account speghetti code in this game, meaning that adding this kind of thing could just randomly break and delete outland, because thats how coding works, meaning that its a lot of effort to even attempt try and implement this kind of stuff. when it has already been done by other people
