Battle Net Authenticator app

Hello.

I had been using the authenticator app for a while because it was useful for the additional bag space and also because of the ability to rename your group finders since without the ability to name then, it’s pretty much impossible to find people.

Since the “migration” over to the battle net app, I am unable to install the app on my phone as it’s an Iphone 6 which is about 9 years old (and still works fine), so I am now unable to install the battle net app since it’s not supported by the IOS that is currently limited by my phone, and also unable to rename my group finders which means I cant even make a proper group by myself.

Is the intent really to punish people on older phones by forbidding them from making parties in group finder ? Why was a migration needed in the first place, and why must people on older phones buy a new phone just for the sake of being able to name their group finders in order to get people to join their parties ?

I have to chime in on this and say I think its bloody stupid to move the app into another one just so they can push the shop items… pack it in Blizz the Authenticator was fine and didnt require moving to the Battle.net app, more hassle than its worth.

To add the switch is going to cause more headache because the authenticator never logged me out on my phone where as the bnet app does constantly and if I need to verify my account logging into that app when it logs me out then i’ll have to contact yourselves who have notoriously bad customer support because you fired them all like the genius’s you are.

Hi Ambers,

I’m sorry to hear you won’t be able to keep using your old phone for the new authenticator, though if you still have the existing standalone version you should be able to keep using that for the moment anyway.

As for the group finder, the intent was never to punish legitimate players, but rather a measure to curtail advertising/spam.

For further details about the authenticator and planned migration, do check out the support article over here:

If you look on Amazon, you can still purchase the physical Authenticator gadgets. That might fix the problem for you.
