When I logged on today to the Battlenet app for a new session on WoW Classic, it indicated that it needed an update. However, Battlenet keeps getting stuck on the message ‘Fetching CDN Configuration…’.
I already tried removing my Blizzard Entertainment cache folder, restart my computer, internet is working as I am posting this from the same PC. I also tried switching Region on the Battlenet login screen.
Uninstalled the game, reinstall gives the same message.
I am on a 6-month paying subscription and everything was fine until today. Can someone please…

Just because your internet is working, doesn’t mean it is working for all endpoints. If it is stuck on “Fetching CDN Configuration”, it sounds as if the battlenet app is for some reason, not able to connect to the server where the configuration is cached.

I’m in the IT business. That much I figured out already. The for some reason illudes me though… But hey… I uninstalled WoW, Battlenet and all. Reinstall of Battlenet app also failed and I believe it contained some link to ‘an error page or something’. I clicked it and ended up on ‘http ://192.168.1.1/login.lp?event=ServerConnect’.
Having no idea what this is about, I googled that. It all seems somehow tied to my ISP router/modem. I power cycled it and now things seem to be back to normal.
I find this really strange how all other internet related activities function normally, but only Battlenet related downloads seemed to be affected.
So back in business it seems after 1 hour of debugging the issue.

Glad to hear things got all solved for your Kiaya.
The power cycle of the router can solve all manner of strange issues like this and while it’s easy to think of the router as either working or not, there are nuances that can affect certain types of connections. In this case, as the power cycle worked, it was likely a bad cached data file on your router relating to battle.net connections or perhaps something even in the DNS settings.
The world of routers can be a complicated place but if you are in the IT business, I do recommend reading up on Routers, DNS and general internet connectivity as it truly is fascinating.
Best of luck now on your adventures in WoW Classic! o/

Had the exact same issue, Use a VPN when trying to update & use different endpoints. worked perfectly for me after struggling for a week, tried everything else. every time you update just use a VPN in the future.

I finally found the fix! download a VPN I got urban VPN for free and just run it when the game throws out that error, let it update and close the VPN

i have same problem , unistall game , installed fresh one, checked dns and router , removed all virus protection programs , but still stucking, it happens at all patch days .
Mine too…Logged in and it wont move.
reset router; flushed router; restarted laptop; reset warcraft and resinstalled; deleted and downloaded the whole thing again and still nothing; took off all security and finally switched to using a mobile hotspot which also resulted in “…fetching CDN Config…”
Although it could be something to do with my router or ISP not connecting to Blizzard, I’ll point out that no other game in the last 25 years has ever had issues like I get with Blizzard updates so why does only Blizzard seem to pass these issues onto the players?
I’m now stuck with an update that doesn’t kick in but I’ll cancel my sub thats up i think tomorrow until they fix this.
