Why is XP from battlegrounds so terrible now? I recall at one point it was actually a good source of XP - it could compete with dungeons / questing if you had the arena master trinkets.
On a level 58 alt I receive ~ 1 bar of XP per win. At 20 minutes a BG and winning every game, that would take me 6-7 hours to reach level 59.
I’d like to level a few different classes to 60 but questing / dungeon spamming is getting really tiring - could battlegrounds please at least give a reasonable amount of XP per win?
I don’t mind end game, at least this expansion i’ve never felt the need to grind much beyond a weekly Torghast. I enjoy playing arena & random BGs, trying different builds etc.
i agree with you by the way … RBG’s or Bg’s in general should offer the same exp and rewards dungeons does.
there is no real reason for them to differ at all.
EDIT: i think them potentially trying to make pvp its own game mode for the sake of esports is what potentially ruined wow pvp… adding all these stats for the sake of making you feel like you stand out in the arena etc…
when if you think about it… if they just used base gear in all aspects of wow raids/dungeons/pvp… they could instead focus on balance, skills, exp etc…
and overall i think the game would see a big increase in pvp interest if the gear was universal like that… much like gw2 (if im not mistaken uses pretty much the same gear for pve and pvp)
EDIT 2:
i openly admit one of the biggest reasons i stopped playing pvp as the main aspect to wow in WOTLK was the gear… and how items just made players better than others…
if it was instead more about the skill of the player over the gear… the pvp in wow would be phenomenal.
some of the best online pvp games i have ever played are games which do not have stats or gear…
something to be learned there.
like this gem of a game the pvp was that good it is still actively played now.
Amen to that. I occasionally go back to JKA and play the Movie Battles 2 mod and it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a MP environment. There is no grind and fear of lagging behind with gear, items ect. Everybody is given the same tools and at that point it is down to skill. When I win a duel in that game I feel proud and when I lose I know that the other player was just better and acknowledge that I need to improve so the next time I encounter him I can beat them or at least come closer to beating them. When I started playing that game I couldn’t do anything and now I can go up against most players and stand a good chance.
I don’t like MP games where you are constantly worrying about whether you only won because you had better gear and what variable made you lose this time ect. But Blizz seem to be obsessed with making players jump through hoops in order to actually start having some fun and PvP is no exception. Their entire philosophy regarding this is hurting the game IMO.
exactly that is why that game was so good and still is…
i used to be in a clan in that game … and progress up the ranks you had to defeat the player above you in a best of 3 duel… it made the game so fun and entertaining because it was all about player skill… and the beauty of it was much like you said… if you failed you just thought about the fight and what went wrong then learned how to beat it in the next round.
the higher ranked players (masters we called them)in the clan would also take on padawans… and teach them vital lessons to help them raise in the ranks…
the goal of the masters was the train a padawan so well they they could defeat their own master and progress past them.
my master for example taught me the art of baiting the other player into making the first move so all u had to do was react at the right time and kill them…
it made for some funny duels where a guy would charge me only to get one shot … when it worked.
