This is technically not a WoW issue, but I do not think the BNet app has its own support forum. Lately I noticed that chats in the battle.net app show weird placeholder texts, and - the worse issue - I cannot get GIFs from the built-in giphy thing.

I have restarted the app, I have restarted the router, restarted the computer, deleted the battle.net app cache… I have run out of ideas on how to tackle this. It’s not a massive issue, but something that would be really neat if it could be fixed.
There’s been two updates to the Bnet app since this problem just appeared out of nowhere. The chat windows say “group.channel.chat.message.placeholder” where you type or “group.context.chat.copy” if right clicking in the chat for example. Almost everything is placeholders like you said. I also cleared my PC of all caches and every Bnet folder in all locations, then reinstalled it and that didn’t help either.
Another thing that came with this bug was the inability to resize the part of the chat window where I type. I typically have it two lines large instead of one.
Players can report a bug for the Battle.net app, in the application directly.
To do that, click on the Battle.net icon in the top left > Send feedback > Report a bug > Battle.net desktop app. From there, you can post your message for our developers.
Will do, but I have to say I don’t trust they read it. I reported the oversizing of the Gilded Prowler mount in the Zereth Mortis patch during Shadowlands and they still haven’t fixed it. Anyway, thanks and have a nice day!
I also have this issue. It affects making groups too. Although what mine says is a bit different, but I get these placeholders messages too, and I thought I was the only one. I have reported it about twice, three times now.
