Battle.net installer getting stuck after reinstall

i didn’t have any updates untill today. odd

A lot of Linux users are reporting similar issues as well. Either the latest version of the Agent is borked or the servers are acting erratically.

I’m seeing this on Fedora 36 (Linux). Battle.net won’t even install in a new prefix. Gets stuck.

I can still play WoW if start the game by using its executable and enter the login details.

i use ASUS. so i think it’s the app going odd.
i wanna add this tho:
on my friend computer Bnet dosen’t have it’s icon in the action bar.
smth weird happening with the app.

Confirming same problem as linux user.

hey all, thought i give an update on my situation:
i finally got battle.net to install, dont ask me how, i was showing my dad and it just magically worked ¯_(ツ)_/¯ hope all your issues get sorted out, worst case scenario i can send my dad around, or MSteams or something :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello everyone ,

Thanks for the reports. A new version of the app is currently being deployed, causing problems to some users. Normally, relaunching is enough but in some cases, a clean reinstall is needed (with a cache deletion). For that, please follow the step of this following article :

When reinstalling, it can take a several minutes, just let it run (up to 15 mins top).

If after reinstalling, you’re still having problems, please ensure having your OS up-to-date :

Else, you can manually uninstall the update deleting the folders Agent.8009 and Battle.net.13747.

yup, that’s what i thought. Thank you daernayc for the response! have a good Day/Night/Evening!

A simple fix that worked for me. I just deleted the entire battle.net folder(in programs (x86) , separate from the game folders), then hit the shortcut icon to launch the game as I usually do. It prompted a reinstall of Bnet, which worked just fine, took only a few mins. It seems to be back to working as intended atm.

Am running with Windows 10

I seem to have the same issue with installs after the .8012 agent update sadly.
I did manage to install diablo 3 letting it sit overnight with .8009.
It still tries to constantly fetch the battle.net beta and gets stuck there. Same behaviour in both .8009 and .8012.
Trying to install World of Warcraft produces same result in both versions as well. Just getting stuck after install prompt in the choose directory and desktop icon window. (Which also takes a long while to pop up in the first place)

edit : And I get the good ol “Whoops! Looks like something broke…” error message.
It even pops up if playing diablo3, but doesn’t seem to affect the game.

After App reinstall I’m getting Battle.net Update Agent Went To Sleep BLZBNTBNA00000005. Also, restoring Battle.net from system tray when I quit the game takes ages. Lastly App installing .battle.net folder in my game folders. What a terrible update.

Tried all the suggested steps but issue yet remains.
I need a solution please.

I have the “A required DLL could not be found problem”, which makes it so I can’t even uninstall. I get an error when i try to uninstall. I deleted the files and now i can atleast open the app but now it just says “update agent went to sleep”, can’t launch any games through the app
