Battle.net issues after update

Generally I don’t run the launcher because it’s quite heavy, and somehow less efficient than even Steam, but I do need to run it when I need to update the client like this morning. So I started it up, downloaded the update, then I was told battle.net needed to restart for an update. So I closed it down and had trouble launching it… the disk usage was at 100% and I couldn’t do anything else. Eventually the screen went black for 15 minutes until I turned the whole thing off.
After restarting the computer I made sure battle.net was the only thing running, but even the login prompt started using 100% disk again. It took me ~10 minutes to close it down.
Long story short, battle.net is unusable and I can’t log in. Please revert whatever you did. Thanks.

This is something specific to your system.

Also, you’d have a better shot at getting assistance with solving it if you posted here:

Or here:

You could try to delete the cache and ensure the Blizzard update agent is running when you restart -fwiw I had no issue with the small update this morning.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly that was still causing the system to hang. Fortunately I believe I found the solution. There seemed to be a few outstanding windows updates, so I installed them, rebooted once again and now battle.net is functioning.
