My point is society changes what is acceptable and what isn’t. I’m not saying the two are equal.

People keep saying “has to”, “can’t hug”. Nobody stops you doing these things. His approach is simply an extreme one. There are plenty of male celebs who are tactile with fans and haven’t been accused of sexual assault. People are blowing this out of proportion.

I count you lucky then, I know it might sound like I’m making something up to prove a point but believe me if you want, My friend from N.ireland went to pick his 7 year old niece up from school and the headteacher called the police on him because he was a male standing near the school. I understand watching out for kids safety but to not even talk to him? Pre judging him for being male and picking up his niece? It does happen, Also lots of men do feel akward doing stuff around kids because of the issues, But I more blame that on the creepy weirdos than society. That’s a different story though.
Ok lets not get heated up too much here, I really wasn’t trying to initiate a “fight” here that will only get us all in trouble for no reason.
I see Baltics points, I see Paxmilian and Punyelfs points, but I want these 2 to consider that alot of WoW (and Lord of the Rings for that matter too ofcourse) would today be impossible for the racial implications, for the positions it puts women into and the general views on traditions and nations. Just consider that.

Im not going to say fringe cases don’t exist, they do, and I find them ludicrous. I just find a lot of the “what next narrative” on it is completely overblown. My experience is my own of course, but given my social group, I know a lot of fathers, and it’s very much the same, same for uncles too.
Stuff like this may appear like it’s targeted, but it’s about the intention behind it, not the potentials who encounter it. It really doesn’t bother me that I might have to (for the first time) inform my daughter’s school when her uncle was picking her up (had to do the same for her aunt to be fair), and he didn’t mind answering the security question. Certainly more tolerable than a random bloke showing up and saying “oh yeah I’m paxs brother, he’s caught in traffic I’ll be picking her up” and then some random guy has now abducted my daughter because crap like that did happen. And as a father I’m quite happy to endure little inconvieniences if it means my children are safe. It see it as deviants spoiling what society has to do, not society being a buzzkill.
Either way I’m not out to fight anyone here. I agree aspects of the modern culture are overblown. I guess I just understand why it is that way, and it’s not a hill I’m going to die upon because I don’t see it as a fundemental violation of my freedom for little gain.
Now where I have seen that crap “oh, we usually only let mothers do this kind of event…” You can bet you bottom dollar I’ve challenged that and either had them produce a compelling reason why or back down and let me attend as a parent, because denying me fatherhood is a big deal to me.
But having to have a bit more tact with flirting? Not so much. Maybe it’s just me. I don’t like physical contact with randoms and that may well be why. I’m quite happy to not let any of my female colleagues hug me because honestly I don’t want to hug them anyway.

Needing to take precautions for some, seemingly benign settings in fear of repercussions is expected and fine, but others are not?
People taking advantage of one’s naivety and/or goodwill isn’t exclusive to falsified accusations.
