Hello, I recently dinged 120, and I’m mostly curious to know which specc performs best in the lower ItemLevels. Which is more item dependent? I’m currently marksman, and though I have some amazing burst in double tap and rapid fire, my single target feels very low. I could just be bad of course, but I’m generally curious which spec is least item dependent of the two.
I would say while you are gearing up definitely go for Beast Master, it will just make your life easier in every way. Get yourself a clefthoove pet for tanking and any world content will become trivial for you.
Essentially you will be your own party, with tank that you can heal meanwhile you burn the target down.
When it comes to progression content i feel the two specs are fairly close to each other so leave that to personal preference once you get geared up.
All specs are viable.
BM is better at low ilvls due to stat weighting
Marksman is alot more technical than BM and to some extent confusing and unclear, this generally translates to it being worse when gering up, then again that may just be because it is alot harder to actually use and get into especially since they cut out the steady shot cheesing.
Please do explain as i do very much disagree here but it might be that you are thinking of something i am not.
Beast master is overpowered class that doesn’t require that much input compared to marksman, so i’d say beast master
basically, beast mastery is pretty clear in that you just mash your cooldown buttons and keep up your barb shot, it will generally even out regardless of what order you initially press them in and generally doesn’t have much of a focus on generating… focus.
With MM however, you need to consider when to use everything and under certain circumstances the whole priority of things changes around like if you hve rapid fire traits then you use double tap on rapid fire, if not then aimed shot is better, then you have to consider the almost null cooldowns during trueshot meaning you need consider wether aimed shot is better than rapid fire, then you have to wonder why half of the azerite traits and talents work the way they do.
BM is just a whole lot simpler as it is generally just A leads to B. Meanwhile marksmans are wondering what possible use this steady shot spamming trait could be when it never seems to require you to use steady shot that often.
Disagreed
On a high level, a bm has in fact more micro management than a marksman. Frenzy, dot uptime, 2 forms of cooldown reduction on crucial skills. And like the marksman, a bm hunter is pre planning a lot… if the player would like to perforn on a high level.
If this doesnt matter, the bm player can press nearly whatever he want, and will do “pretty well” compared to a marksman doing the same. Thats a point i would agee with… the gap between a good one and a bad one is way bigger with marksman.
Back to topic: when youre ok with a walking dot, who will be stuck in furniture from time to time go bm. If you dont, go marksman. The power creep is about the same with both of them…
The op asked about early level play, not end-level.
and just no, BM is and always will be a brainless spec and you can ask just about anyone and they will confirm this.
While marksman isn’t massively complex after you have gotten into it’s flow(nothing ever is after that to be honest), it is very confusing to get into and this can be even more detrimental when you first hit max level, especially when you start adding the active talents into the mix.
overall what i’m saying is that MM is more interesting eventually.
this is true, specialy if a fight have trashmobs comming, it can be better to move your pets away from the boss 1 or 2 seconds before adds come, so you can instantly send them on the adds, otherwise you stand there waiting for your pets whom can have some sort of slow effect on them, making them not even get there in time, specialy Azhara this can happen.
As a newly dinged 120 definitely BM… Bringing your own tank shouldnt be underestimated, especially if you havent collected a full set of Benthic with other chars. GL
even though people on method are saying that bm is one of the most difficult specs to play at a really high lvl xd
and then everybody laughed at the irony.
