Just because you dont like something, doesnt mean that everyone else need to be punished, discord is a incredible tool to use for plenthora of game related things.
The cheaters will find their ways to cheat no matter, punishing legitimate players who enjoy the use of discord is hilarious to even suggest. talk about being self centered
Yes. Having discord as an incredible tool is the problem as you can see in OPs case.
I would rather have a less incredible tool but if so it should be used by every wow player.
You should have your LFM text posted ingame and for everyone to see. You should search your arena mate on server (or witin eu in your game client).
If you need an invite code and a network of discord servers to find a group to raid with something went wrong.
Not even to mention the power the discord leads have to exclude you, your gilde, your gdkp
Or even make a profit to promote certain gdkps.
Discord Server kill the vibe wow once had and sometimes it has on classic era.
See whats happing with those hardcore discord servers. Its toxic and not good for the game at all.
Discord is the best thing to ever happen to wow communities, so easy to find a guild, so easy to run a guild. You can run the entire guild within discord, no need for third party sites or ventrilo server costs.
Ban wow discords to keep the player ingame.
Stop circle jerks liek it happend on EJ or even AJ.
Having discord in wow will end up like rBG ended in retail.
Only the same people play with the same people and everyone else does not exist anymore.
Stop it now and ban wow discord
Move to the forums
Move to the Communities the bnet launcher provides.
And this work of art right here wins the award for the dumbest post of the year. That’s it folks, we can go home now, nothing half as stupid will be posted in months to come.
Yeah no way more people use discord than those that use the wow forums
No clue where you get that from but all official realm discords I am on for both classic and retail have a strict no RMT, no personal advertisement rule. Trolls get kicked off discord servers faster than they are on the wow -forums, too.
Do you live in the early 2000’s still? Even using google is not hard. Sure they have discord but every goldseller can have a website in 10 min if they want.
No. The wow community was better when the wow Community happend in wow.
More people would use the forums if discord did not exist. Ofc the forums need some love.
Main gdkp discord on US does it
As well as arena discord on EU
On german discord servers there are “titels” for gold sellers and offerings in certain channels on their realm discord.
(Also keep in mind that there are no official realm discords. Everything is player driven and blizzard did not gave its ok to any of those discord)
Check the hardcore discord servers. They say its troll but in reality is a personal Vendetta.
I can share screenshot of it but I cannot say on the forums.
Discord gold is way more cheaper and buyer like the personal contact as they know who is making the deal.
When was that, in 2004? We used to have a full third party guild website, forums designed and paid for by the guild, ventrilo server paid for by the guild. You didn’t run the “community” in game, you ran out outside the game because people need to fit the game around their lives, not make it their lives.
Discord has made all of this incredibly easy, I can sign up for raids on my phone, while at work. I can take part in discussions around guild activities, I can keep in touch with players, which is largely why I am even able to maintain playing this game with a normal life.
What you’re talking about “community in game” never existed. There was MMO champion, Thottbott, Wowhead, Elitist Jerks going back 15 years. Every guild had a website.
Not many guilds accept alts in their guilds. They want the mains in their guilds so the raidtimes do not conflict or there is a chance you ditch your guild for your main guild at some point.
So not applying with your main is going to be a problem no matter where you are.
And for what did you use those websites? Application and thats it.
How many % of the playerbase used websites? About 20% or even less I guess.
Did it least when wotlk hit pug raiding was common? I do not remeber so. Do you?
Wow implimended pretty quick ingame Sound but noone used it. Why? I do not know.
Did not feel that. Servers were way smaller compared to gehennas or firemaw before the murdering of it but people used to LFM ingame and send you an invite in your calender. And people knew what gilde you belonged to while noone knows in what discord groups you are. (Unless you use the next 3rd party website to check logs).
Everything happend ingame.
Now you have to join the realms discord to find the discord link to the raid you can “apply” to (which means sending your wow log profile). Very unpersonal. Noone wants to know what intel i am using, what i do for living, see a screenshot of my interface or what professions my wow character has. Very unpersonal.
Applications, signups, sign offs, sharing guides, gameplay discussion, discussing tactics, discussing loot. Normal guild things like sharing photos and other things. Every guild I was ever in until the widespread adoption of Discord had a website.
We had people meet in Stinki Monki Finger and get married, it was a social hub supported by a website and a ventrilo server and it was active from early 2005 until about 2019.
