Benediction Quest

So i recently decided to go for this small “Questline”, for the quest for my Benediction staff before it’s removal in Catacylsm, i figured i’d go for a shot, considering Wrath of the Lich King should make the “Rescue Peasants” quest easier, and not harder.

So, what i’ve noticed and analyzed from the 50+ attempts at this quest, where you have to save 50 Peasants, before 15 perishes, is that you are NOT able to keep up with your mana, as your lower AND higher rank spells, scales together, meaning;

If i use a Rank 1 Renew, it costs 297 Mana
If i use a Rank 10 Renew, it costs 297 Mana

You are no longer able to use a lower version rank, for a smaller cost of mana, so either intentional or broken?

I will also point out, that you are now also no longer able to spam Mana Potions as you could in classic, where you could EASILY spend 5-10 mana potions per attempt, but now you are only allowed ONE per attempt, due to the “Combat-Potion-CD” function.

Also, if you accept the quest, and proceed to do as you usually would, any NEARBY-NON-RELATED-MOBS, will be pulled in the area, causing you to take heavy damage / healing-spell-pushback, making it even more impossible, as if it weren’t already as it is.

And to note, if you do an attempt of saving 50 Peasants, then you HAVE TO HEARTHSTONE OUT, to make your Battle/Guardian Elixirs available to be used again, cause it don’t register as you being out of combat, upon failing the quest, and no longer being in any sort of encounter. - You may use your mount, drink, eat, etc, but you may not apply new elixirs, which must be a joke.

(Quick note, i am not level 80, but considering that your spells scales with your current level, won’t matter much.)

Blizzard, please fix this or look into it?

Sorry I dont have any useful info for you but I remember I did my bene quest in wotlk, cant remember specifically but maybe go back later in the expansion when you have a bit more gear, tho naxx gear should be more than sufficient.

Aye, i expected it to be scaled and working properly, like back in original Wrath. - Though, being above the original level 60, should’ve made it easier, right? But no, it’s scaling.

I could be level 80, and it’d still drain on my mana, as much as ever. Do you see where i am coming from, with this?

I can use a rank 10 Renew, it heals for 400, and costs 300 mana
I can use a rank 1 Renew, it heals for 50, and costs 300 mana

It don’t matter what sort of gear i use in this case, i could also be level 80, but the spells scale with your level, no matter the rank. (mana cost wise).

Just use abolish and renew only. At 80 that should be more than enough. Dont forget to wand the adds to save mana, nova is obviously a no no.

You are going to have an easier time in icc gear when you have 35k mana than you are in naxx gear with 20k mana

It’s What i am doing, but you must admit it’s quite scuffed, with the mana potion thing, no? Not to mention the bugged combat-elixir issue. - AND pulling mobs from 700 Miles away? :upside_down_face:

Wanding is a no no though, cause you won’t be able to keep up then, with the peasants health/diseases.

As a side note, this is meant to be for level 60’s, imagine if you can’t do it at level 70, due to scaling, random mob pulling and game thinking you are still in encounter, making you unable to reapply elixirs. :))

what mobs are pulling? iirc theres an add called the cleaner that spawns if you get any outside assistance on the quest from others but apart from that you should only have to heal/cleanse the friendlys and kill the skeles, cant remember if u need to kill the archers, its been a while

Can only heal / cleanse NPCs, but mobs outside the encounter area, like abominations, skeletons, ghouls etc, it’s pulled upon doing the encounter, doing damage to you / pushback to you :upside_down_face:

The Cleaner is Not an issue though, don’t worry, it’s Not that NPC i am talking about.

It’s just random everyday mobs around Iris Havenfire area, being randomly pulled and chasing you :upside_down_face:

Nope, and it’s preventing me / others from doing the quest. - Hope Blizzard notices and makes a hotfix for it. :slight_smile:

Theres an easy way for that. Just get a friend/guidl member to help you. They cannot actively help you by attacking/healing the ghost but they can stand afk at the spot the the hostile ghosts are spawning. So they get the initial aggro of the mob and if they have thorns/ret aura they keep the aggro for some time.
Ret aura/thorns dont tag the mobs so its fine as long as the ‘helper’ dont actively do anything but healing themself the quest shouldnt fail. Thats how i did it back when classic fresh released.

Well you also have Shadowfiend now, which you wouldn’t in Classic.

There is nothing to /hotfix/ though.

Back in Classic this was also one of the harder quests to complete and you had to use your head and certain spell ranks to properly do it, you could only use one mana potion and a dark rune for the entire fight, in comparison you have hymm, shadowfiend and a mana pot which should honestly cover your mana needs.

Did the quest yesterday, first attempt.
Just used power word shield, renew and abolish poison as discipline, and holy nova to get rid of the adds. 3 or 4 peasents died, but thats it.
Yea, mana was a bit of a problem at the end, but there are only 3 or 4 waves total. The next wave also spawns before the previous is complete.
