Best class for a Zandalari Troll?

I was thinking about making a new Zandalari Troll character to potentially become a main in Dragonflight (if I decide to buy it). Why? Because Pterrordax is the only Dragonriding mount that I like. Plus it’s been a while since I leveled the char in Zandalar, and I may want to replay it. And they’ve got all the Zanadalari sets plus Heritage Armor, so good looking transmog is never a problem for them.

Now only two important questions left. First is the class. No classes are out of questions, but currently the ones I don’t want:

  • Mage, not my thing.
  • Druid, I just can’t picture a non Night Elf Druid.
  • Paladin, doesn’t fit the Zandalari at all.

The ones I’m currently leaning for not to:

  • Shaman and Monk, kinda have the same “problem” as the Druid.
  • Death Knight, again doesn’t really fit the Zandalari, they didn’t have any contact with the Scourge. If they somehow make Zandalari DK themed after Bwonsomedi, then certainly, now not really.
  • Hunter, pets aren’t my thing, for an alt sure, but not sure about the main.
  • Priest, agonizingly slow in the open world.

So, anyone got any advice?

And second question, should I make the char now, or wait till Dragonflight?

Just imagine them for what they are lorewise, they’re called Dinomancers, which is why they have dinosaur forms.

Paladin also fits perfectly, there are a lot of Zandalari prelates.

The Zandalari DKs are the ones who died during the Fourth War (BfA) and were raised by Bolvar. They don’t have to be related to the scourge.

Actually paladin fits zandalari best imo.

This is from MMO Champion’s forum, but I agree. "I think if you consider that paladin for zandalari is based on loa instead of the “light’ , the way Tauren paladins are actually sun walkers, it makes that work out.”

Either way, because of their passives I’d roll a melee DPS like Warrior/Monk. Because their racial passives are just all nuts… But then again, Tauren has the same passive but better :sweat_smile:
Shadow Priest could be a thing with the passives, but Imo that spec shouldn’t exist untill overhauled :upside_down_face:.

Also I used too have a Zandalari Warrior and he looked absolutely sick.

Whichever class you think is more fun. Always. The purpose of a game is to provide you with fun.

I would suggest at least making it to sit on the name now.

Make several ZT class trials on different classes and see what u like.
Dont bother lorewise, focus whats fun.

With the ones you’ve already excluded that basically only leaves warrior or rogue? Not really sure what kind of gameplay you are mostly into? Arena? Mythic +? Open world?

Casual mostly. I don’t do PvP or Mythic+. For now.

Okay, I think Zandalari looks pretty good as warriors, wielding two big weapons as fury and bulky plate armor. That’s what I would’ve played.

I’m sure that the Zandalari has had their shapeshifters long before the nelves.

Depends if you see it as the same kind of Shamanism as other races? You could just see it as gaining the powers from the Loa (thats what I’d do).

And monk you can generally just see as the same - rather than Celestials, Loa. ANd its basically just a brawler class.

Could just see it as a follower of Bwonsamdi - you wont get unique stuff.

Then don’t play hunter.

Then don’t make a priest.

Go monk if you want to be able to do tank, heal and DPS.

Great unique Druid forms (Dino bird, cat lizard, and reptile shark)

Pally’s have bubble and regenratin’ which can be a life saver

Shammies have great looking totem (and enh. is loads of fun. I’m playing my enh. zanda pally a lot just now).

Outlaw rogues can use those big back mounted legion blades without looking ridiculous .

Imo Paladin, Shaman, Druid.

Just run with the headcanon that you get your power from a loa and not from Elements/Light/Nature

Paladin is one of their best. Rezan’s prelate, aristocrat lore-wise, serving the (former) Loa of Kings is one of the coolest types for the coolest troll tribe.
