Which class would you recommend as an alt for doing legacy and current content, such as farming mounts and transmog? (with a focus on weapons, though I know preferred armor type might influence the decision) As well as making gold? I’m looking for high mobility, so any suggestions on race/class combinations would be great.
I would suggest:
Night Elf Rogue - high mobility, extra vanish, fits their theme as a sneaky hunter protecting the nature or just a lone wolf, an explorer
Pandaren Monk - They have about 3-4 speed boost options and lots of interesting AoE options. Plus they can play dps, tank and healer. Pandaren just because it best fits the theme.
Night Elf Demon Hunter - Strong class in Dragonflight and can also “slow fall” off of cliffs and very high mobility in general.
Dracthyr Evoker - Cannot ignore the class basically made for this expansion. Having lots of fun with mine.
If you’re interested in just farming weapons then you should go with a warrior since they can use everything including staves
If you want achievements then it’s worth having a DH and a hunter on the bench
Different answers.
Legacy content; something with spammable, uncapped AoE. Mistweaver and warrior spring to mind. Spin spin spin, the dungeon is all dead, loot and move on. Try that on a shaman with chain lightning.
Warrior has more equippable weapons so… maybe that if you’re optimising.
For current content, preservation evoker. They are meta for a reason and they have not been nerfed (to any significant degree) and I will bet they won’t be nerfed for at least 18 months. You want easy M+ groups, you go prevoker and enjoy life until 11.0.
A Warrior can equip everything other than Wands, it’s also the best class.
Is the mage your main?
So you want focus on weapons. Warrior would be the 1st choice.
Hunter can also equip most melee weapons except maces.
Evoker can also equip most weapons.
I’ve never seen any warrior wielding them even in Classic (and there are actual stave drops for them at low levels like the houndmaster’s stick in SM)
If you kill Garrosh without being a plate class, there is a chance you will be really sad.
I would say warrior
I picked fury warrior to be my alt for this expansion.
The amount of healing you get allows you to solo big packs of mobs.
Well if we played on the same vanilla classic server you would’ve saw me as the first
There’s an int+spirit staff quest reward from wailing caverns
However At that level that staff has higher base attack damage than most weapons you could find.
I am sure many vanilla warriors used that staff till WW axe just like me xD
I can’t speak for that as I never really did WC (since for horde, I mainly just levelled in the belf zones till lvl20-23), but imagine a random mage meleeing enemies to death as a primary attack instead of spells, would be hilarious
Haha yea i did get few comments like people laughing and some even thinking i’m a complete noob tried to teach me that a warrior should use an axe
Even though that staff one shots quest mobs almost !
Plate: Warrior - can learn all weapons
Mail: Hunter - fast w right talents + cunning pet
Leather: Demon Hunter - fast
Cloth: Mage - great aoe
LOL, I only need a Warrior, then. I got this Mage, a DH, Druid, and a Hunter, only missing a class for plate armor. I guess I will go with a Dark Iron Dwarf Warrior for the Blacksmithing Lore!
good choice
you also get wormholes to travel around quicker + increased movement speed in instances
Yes, it is my main. I already get the weapon appearances that I need. I think I’m rolling a Warrior, it seems very fun, and no other class seems to come any closer to Warrior, in terms of mobility and DPS. Thanks for the suggestions!
Warriors can learn transmogg from all weapons, shields and offhands.
And they are really good tanks for when you want to try a different role.
