Best class to solo Dungeons & Raids?

I’m currently playing a Protection Paladin at lv49, Item Level 57. I’ve found that, with level scaling turned on, I can, to some extent solo some dungeons, if the bosses don’t hit like a truck. I also managed to do this with a Daemonology Warlock at lv49, same scaling story, using a Void Walker as tank.

However, I equally noticed that when not participating in Time Walking, and then being a maximum of 4 levels beyond the cap, still keeps the enemies green, the challenge interesting, but not as potentially troubling as when they are scaling. So, solo-ing a dungeon when you’re 4 levels higher, with proper gear, seems doable with classes that can take a hit, or have a pet/demon with taunt, to take hits for them.

I felt like checking out the next step. Raids. Well, despite being level 49 versus generally green enemies, I got my gluteus maximus handed to me with the first boss I tried in the Nighthold. Not because of the boss itself, but the gazillion enemies that come and help. I’ve finished the Nighthold solo at level 50, but by then it’s no longer any form of challenge whatsoever.

So perhaps the question is, am I not a good enough player or is this just really too difficult to solo? And if not, is there perhaps another class I should consider?

When you outgear a dungeon, you can even Solo m0. This is not an indicator for classpower. The real compaisation begins with max level and Max gear. And there is where the real challenge begins. You can play Dungeons in all powerlevels, m+ scales infinite. So play a specc you like to 60 farm double leggy and stuff and Check out the real Content

Maybe either, I’m misunderstanding you, or you me, but the thing is that I want to do all dungeons and raids solo, while these still being a challenge, which just isn’t the case when these enemies are grey for me.

A lot of old dungeons from classic, burning crusade, wotlk technically become grey upon reaching lv35, so the sweet spot here is lv34 and try to get as high an item level as possible. Pandaria lv39, Dreanor lv44, Legion lv49 and BfA at lv54. All these dungeons should generally be doable for a properly geared, well played Tank.

Am I to understand from your reply that once lv60, I can do solo raids, and these still being a challenge if my gear is sufficient? I have yet to purchase Shadowlands, so there’s no way for me to test this right now. I naturally assumed that the sweetspot for soloing raids, while these still being a challenge, is sitting 4 levels beyond the cap.

Could you perhaps elaborate a bit? Blood is the only viable tank, so I’m guessing this is what you’re referring to. I’ve played Blood, (not max geared though), but it always felt like the Paladin had better survivability, yet from what I gather from your reply, this is incorrect? I’ve seen that according to the current meta Blood Tanks are atm superior in Shadowlands, but if that equates to more easily doing solo dungeons and raids?

Aren’t BDKs the highest dps tanks?

Been testing them since last night. Gotta say, they do seem more surviveable than Protection Paladins and they definitely hit harder, but I guess that comes with the territory, as BDK’s aren’t the swiss army knives a supportclass such as the Protection Paladin can be considered.
