Hey,
I am looking to see which race suits which class best for PVP and PVE, a tier list would be great.
Is their a site that has that listed somewhere? I couldn’t find any clear cut.
Any help gratefully appreciated
Both wowhead .com and icy-veins .com have comprehensive class guides that cover pve and pvp, although not all class/spec guides may cover best race, I would say overall your race choice makes little impact in comparison to your skill with the class. You could have the best combo out there but it’s not going to be an “I win button” against a person playing the same class but a different race.
An example I can think of is an orc v gnome warrior, sure I get a shorter stun duration but the gnome gets a root escape. It will be using those racials effectively along with my competence as a warrior vs his competence.
You will certainly play better with a class and race combination you enjoy rather than what is the flavour of the month just because you will feel better with that class and race combination.
yea thanks, I went through the guides but not all cover the races sadly.
for PVP I think the races can make a big difference if you look at some of the racials like humans and orcs.
I have 120s for most classes, I am unlocking the allied races and I am indifferent to what class to play, so more wondering what class is best for the races.
In regards to PvE you won’t find a race that covers all 3 specs the best in one class. Highmountain Tauren have great racials for Prot warriors and guardian druids but trolls and orcs have better racials for dps specs like fury, arms and feral. Over time as well, racial abilities do change and get re-done. Everyman for Himself has gone through multiple changes to balance it, now it only works purely on stuns and triggers a 30 sec CD on your pvp trinket in it’s current iteration and 30 seconds can be a long time in pvp.
I advise you find a class and spec first that you wish to play then look up the race that would be best for that play-style if you are honestly looking to min-max but as I said, in the grand scheme of things, unless you are going for world top 100, race means little to nothing compared to skill with the class and pick a race you like best.

Power changes each patch, there is never a definitive best combo at all times. Dark Iron / Dwarf Holy Paladins would instantly become much weaker if all DoT classes are nerfed into oblivion (feral, assasin, arms, affliction), as their racial becomes semi useless, as those specs are naturally going to be underplayed. Night Elven rogues instantly become much weaker if Shadowmeld doesn’t put you out of combat.
Right now, I’d say, out of the popular class picks in this patch’s meta / fotm for PvP:
Orc / Nelf Rogue
Dark Iron / Dwarf / Zandalari / Belf Paladin
Dark Iron / Dwarven / Goblin / Troll Priest
DHs of course are tied to one race
Orc / Dark Iron / Dwarven Shaman
Troll / Orc / Dark Iron / Dwarven Warlock
Nelf / Tauren Druid
Dark Iron / Dwarf / Gnome / Worgen / Orc Warrior
In general, for both PvP and PvE, you are not going to go wrong if you pick a Horde race. They have much stronger racials for PvE in general, and they are packing a punch for PvP as well. Generally, the best races at all times are (at least in the history of WoW so far):
Orc
Tauren
If you are stuck in Alliance, then I recommend making a Gnome if you really want to minmax.
Think you’d be better off asking this in the PvP forum… More likely to find someone who knows how to min-max your character for PvP play there…
