In my opinion the best melee DPS atm is most likely ret paladins with their incredible burst.
Fire mages and balance druids will probably be considered the strongest casters by many.
I want to know your guys opinions of the best DPS and Healers in arena, both 2v2 and 3v3.
Do you think any class deserves to be nerfed? (I know I do! )
Imo, the best class for competitive PvP atm is arms warrior, but for a different reason than when people normally label a class/spec OP.
Arms fits in with 11 out of the 12 classes in the game, you can combine just about any spec with it and you have a functional comp, which I think is great and is something all classes should be able to do. The strength comes off of utility and the kit itself, and not so much the niches, like with ret burst.
Everyone ask about the best and nerf
No one ask about Worst and buff
If there is all energy of people seeking the best and what to nerf to how to buff the worst, the game would be more balance.
That the issue of tier list : People look the S and a tier because they want the best but never looked if the worst is that much worst or itâs just 10% difference.
And when i mean that is for example Mage , due of Fire mage being one of the best, people think that Frost and Arcane is unviable. Only recently people notice that frost is not that bad, and the arcane burst is just a combust with a 4,5 seconds set up.
But since Fire is S tier 90% of the community think that only fire mage is viable.
It would be better to highlight specialisation that underperform to make them join the A and S tier than just highlight only the best and think they are only those spec that exist.
Speaking from viability, there are maybe 3 specs that are completely trash, but all others are somewhat viable.
We certainly have clear outliers that blow up the representation thanks to fotm rerollers.
Apart from that it also depends on your rating because some classes roll over people in low rating and are not that great anymore in high rating.
Anyways you would need to separate for 2s and 3s.
2s:
BM Hunter
Arms Warrior
Rogue (sub in r/m and assa with disc)
Fire Mage
feral
ww
Healer:
Holy Priest
Rdruid
Hpal
those are the common specs/classes you will face all day in 2s. You will find an oddball here and there. Other specs that are not on this list are not necessarily bad but maybe they get countered too hard by other stuff or rely on some stupid gimmick that can be countered by good players (convoke, rets, âŠ)
Recently there are appearing more and more double hybrid combs as well aka feral/ret, ret/enh, boom/ret etc. because they are basically unkillable by 1 dps lol
Do you want opinions or facts? Because we have the statistics in terms of class distributions on the ranked ladder. And Arms Warriors are #1 in both 2âs AND 3âs.
Thatâs a rather skewed interpretation of âbestâ. You mean, most versatile probably?
What if a class can have 1 or 2 comps only, if it can stop everything with them? Itâs such a common line in this game that we see it all the time.
BM + Holy - there you go. BM probably can play some other comps too, certainly not as many as arms, but BM + Holy is stronger than anything arms (and not only arms but almost anything else) can play. Itâs probably the best comp in 2s (letâs say) atm.
Does that make BM best in 2s? Yes, why not? Maybe? No, because they predominantly play with one other spec (or 2, letâs get druid in as well) and donât have that many options?
So before answering âbestâ maybe define what best is actually and not jump on proclaiming x,y,z to be best without a real base ground.
For me, warrior is far from best, especially in 2s. Itâs good and strong, but far from best, and I define best by 3 key factors: ability to control the opponent and dictate temp (severly lacking), dmg - very good, not best, survivability - useless without a dedicated healer spam, very good defensive toolkit, when enough healing.
Based on that, Iâd rate BM as probably one of the best in 2s atm. Fire mage too, rogue to an extend, ret. As far as healers, Holy is best.
If you start to name the classes which are good in 2s (as example here), you suddenly will figure out that every single class (not spec) is viable. This fact will hurt many people, so stop asking this kind of questions, ty
S+ 2s/3s: Arms, Ret, BM, Fire, Sub/Sin, Hpriest. These specs are far ahead of the others. SV hunter is also very good, but fortunately few people play that spec.
What kind of question is that anyway, your life doesnât depend on your results in a video game, Blizzard isnât gonna fund you a fee at the end of the season if youâre the best arena players.
The best class is the class you like, but do you even know what class you like ?
Rets in 2v2 are easily manageable imo, but rets in 3v3 as melee cleave is insane. They basically get free rating. Ret / Warrior for example. Arguably better than Enhance / Warrior.
Boomkin, ngl, is the most fun Ive had for a long time on WoW. Not just because of the convoke 1 shot, which is easy to stop btw, but because of your survivability and mobility in the current game state. If a ret tries to 1 shot me for example, I can live. I was having some really fun 1v1s vs a ret with Gladiator title in Battle for Gilneas the other day. He kept tunnel visioning me, and I kept kiting him away from everyone else and he had to bubble and lay on hands to live. We probably killed each other 50-50, but it was fun xD
But imo, best classes in arena completely depend on the comp youâre playing. I started to write down what I thought was best but thereâs so many variables! Iâll try do 1 for each bracket and a brief whyâŠ
2v2 Melee: Assassination Rogue (high damage and high healing reduction and control).
3v3 Melee: Arms Warrior (probably the most utility on a class that pairs well with almost anything, also high damage, and absolute tanks).
2v2 Ranged: Beast Mastery Hunter (pet damage is insane, if its a good hunter and healer the pet will never die and easy to play, arguably the easiest class and spec to play in the game).
3v3 Ranged: Fire Mage (good control, good survivability, very high burst damage)
2v2 Healer: Resto Druid (the mobility, control over melee and able to drink in prowl).
3v3 Healer: Holy Paladin (BoPs, Freedoms, dispels, bubble, 2x beacon etc).
