Hello all. As the title say, I would like to know which healer you consider the best for healing in pugs in M+. By pugs I mean, a lot of un-expected damage, avoidable damage, able to overcome mechanic mistakes etc.
Most “meta” sites that have tier list of specs they consider that the group is top and that all will do the necessary interrupts, dispels, avoid etc and so generally they list healers mostly for their damage capabilities and not for their healing. These “pro” groups also do specific pulls that align with their CDs etc.
So far I have a Holy Priest and a mistweaver. on my Holy priest, when all group gets heavy damage I feel my prayer of healing is useless and my Sanctify is always not a solution since group is spread most of the time!… I need to triange heal people. In contrast my mistweaver is great on this cause of vivify aoe heals + mastery.
Although I like how holy priest can sit in range and heal + damage while my MW I need to get into melee most of the time.
I considered Shaman but chain heal is not always usable cause group is spread most of the time. Sometimes I have range dps that also try hard to get out of range from me and I am “hunting” them to heal them. So I dont trust that chain Heal or Paladins Light of Dawn will help me…
anyway I really wanna hear your thoughts on this. My Mistweaver heals are great for me atm I just wish I could do damage from range instead of have to go into melee. In case of MW its not even a DPS matter, I need to melee for Rising sun kick hot extentions.
Holy Priest is a monster when it comes to healing and patching up mistakes. Resto Shaman is less so, but they bring bloodlust and good damage, and Earth Elemental when the tank goes down (because 99 necrotic stacks are fun).
Resto druid is nice too, and has great tools, but to truly save a group that eats every frontal, you have to keep HoTs running on everyone. That’s both mana intensive and reduces your damage considerably. Holy Priest and Resto Shaman can fix mistakes reactively, most of the time, a resto druid can’t. Resto druid has great utility though, with mass root, soothe, vortex and combat res.
If you want to play something that’s easy to learn, works good in pugs, and get invites, go resto shaman, or if you don’t like shaman, holy priest.
I honestly don’t think it matters for pugs. All healers have emergency CDs and instant cast heals to save dumb dumbs. I’ve seen every healer save groups from terrible pulls that should wipe.
I’d say reaction time, knowledge of the dungeon and skill with the class. Are far more important in a pug, then going a certain spec.
Just play what you like. Mistweaver is awesome. The only downside of the monk is the lower amount of damage it brings. For healing they are great. And they have a very good dispel available too. Next to of course great utility with ring of peace, aoe stun and paralyze.
The few times I’ve seen a mistweaver, they seem to be really mana hungry and practically empty their mana pool as soon as someone takes a little bit more damage than what can be recovered slowly.
If you want an easy time, Holy Priest as they have the highest hps in the patch by far. However you won’t get invited to pugs as a Holy Priest, at least not easily, as they only have HPS and nothing else, and that is not what is important in m+.
If you want actual invites play a resto shaman or holy paladin.
