If you hate how they’re played, you’re not likely to perform on the level that’s required for it to matter that you picked the theoretically best class.
I didn’t say I like this, but it’s the case. If you don’t want a below average experience you will need to adhere the meta and play what people want to play with.
Try to in good faith recommend to someone to play assassination rogue if they don’t have a guild.
You will get invited to nothing.
People will pass you the hell over.
You will permanently get the short end of the stick for your class choice.
Doesn’t really matter what you enjoy, you certainly won’t enjoy always being the last choice no matter what you do.
Yeah, but … well … BfA was tragical for me, I chose the class I liked and sticked with it. Sad that ferals were in a terrible shape.
Shadowlands - again I chose the class I like and wanna play. Havoc DH are in a terrible shape.
So for me, shadowlands are again just a 1 month of expensive fun, because I am having very difficult time achieving any progress.

I had a Disc Priest back in Legion.
At the time I thought the spec is decent, but for some reason it became quickly unbearable in SL. Holy spec is much more fun, for me at least, and is very reliable in both PvE and PvP situations.
Other than that I’ve heard that Druids and Shamans are both great, though I don’t have any personal experience with them
