A horde of alts + mission table. A bit of initial investment to level the alts, but then it’s 100% self-sustaining raw gold printing machine, which requires very little upkeep.
You don’t need any gear at all. You don’t need to ever leave the sanctum once you hit 60. You don’t depend on the AH. You don’t need to spend much time completing WQs and whatnot.
You log in the morning, start some missions, and go do whatever else. Log back in before you go to bed, complete the missions, start new ones, go sleep. That’s all it takes. The anima missions reward about twice the anima they cost, so if you distribute your followers well, the table will be self-sustaining. But since 9.1.5, that’s not even needed, because you can send anima over from your main, if need be.
How much gold does it make, you ask? Considering the effort, quite a lot! Once the table campaign is sufficiently progressed (level 12-16, I don’t go higher on 16 on farmers), gold missions will average out around 300g, possibly higher. My experience so far is that with two logins a day, I can average around 2 gold missions a day per char. That’s ~600g / day / char. Not much, you might say. But when you have 10 farmers, that’s 6000g a day (~180k a month), for very little work. If you manage to send 3 gold missions a day, on 10 farmers, you’re suddenly looking at 9k gold a day (~270k a month). The more farming alts you add, the more gold you make, and after the initial leveling effort, it’s trivial to maintain them.
At the moment, I have 20 table farmers, averaging 4 gold missions a day, for 310g a mission. That’s a nice 25k gold a day for something I literally do on my phone while making breakfast, lunch and dinner, respectively.
No gear, no travel, raw gold. You can also gather a whole lot of materials you can sell or turn into consumables to supply your main’s adventures. Every wednesday I spend half an hour crafting feasts, pots and flasks in Oribos from the materials gathered the previous week - I sell most of the on the AH, because I can’t possibly run enough keys to use all of them. Mind you, half my farmers also have the Queen’s Conservatory unlocked for more material farming - I wouldn’t recommend that unless you have a large supply of Anima to burn on unlocking it.
Go level a horde of alts, make them night fae (strongest covenant for table farming), and enjoy your free gold. Level via Threads of Fate, so you reach renown 70+ by the time you ding, unlocking most of your followers (ideally, you’ll want renown 76 to have all followers and all XP booster items, but it’s fine if you don’t reach that while leveling - the replenish the reservoir quest will get you there in a few weeks, or you can do a few callings or w/e if you’re so inclined).
