Best pet for low levels?

Currenty I’m lvl 35( ik not much but ye) and wanna ask beasts you recommend to have? For now i have 2 bears with me. But maybe i should change?

Pets have a specialization (cunning, ferocity, tenacity) and an extra ability depending on their species.

Tenacity = Tank
Ferocity = DPS
Cunning = Utility(mostly for pvp)

You could have a pet that is ferocity but has a defensive ability, a tenacity pet that has a slow or mortal strike abilty etc. Any combination can (probably) happen.

I dont think neither the specialization nor the extra ability would matter at low level so you could go with basically whatever you want.

But maybe a tenacity pet with a defensive ability would be the best, increasing your pet’s ability to tank.

I find petopia to be useful for choosing a pet. Particularly this section helps me the most.

Happy hunting!

Not for only low lvls, you must always have every kind of pets for every activity in game. I mostly find ferocity pets are better at tanking than tenacity pets due to their leeching, very effective especially in island expeditions and horrific visions. Spirit beasts are useful in m+ and raiding (spirit heal and dispel ability). So you’ll need at least one ferocity pet (for bloodlust) and one spirit pet (heal and dispel), others are your choice. Slow fall, water walking, cunning spec etc…

I currently have 1 spirit bear (tenacity), 1 core hound (ferocity), 1 cat (ferocity), 1 wolf (ferocity) and 1 raptor (cunning) on my hunter…

You won’t have the ability to tame Spirit Beasts until lvl 76 I think it is so you don’t have to worry about that for now. Scalehide family is prolly the best pet to lvl with and do world questing later on due to being Ferocity and its damage mitigation ability. Cats are also pretty good due to their dodge ability. However you can go ham with taming whichever pet you fancy coz you have 55 (?) slots to fill.

From what I’ve heard the ferocity ability is so OP that it should be your go-to pet for PvE.

I just levelled a new Hunter myself from scratch (my third) and I find especially at lower levels, Tank Pets are much better.

The leech from Ferocity is so small, that it will never save you from tight situations.

I think they start to get better at 80-90 (when you get mastery and better dmg overall + enough Talents)

I can suggest Bears, because they have a Defensive + Taunt + a little Ferocity leech. But at very low levels I would always use a pure Tankpet. The leech is very overrated. You’ll be far better of healing your pet and let your pet soak the dmg.

Now i have cats but i think i go to pick up some bears cause 60 lvl coming and I go to Outlands so it will be better i think :slight_smile:

'Ello Nelye.

First things first, as mentioned above, pets come in three flavours.
Tank, Dps, and middle.

Tank is pretty much useless, except for looks. The minor HP boost, isn’t worth a dam at low levels. And all three family of pets have something with a defensive cooldown.

If it’s your first I would recommend a scalehide for now.
So get yourself a kodo, or thunderlizard.
They have a shielding ability which gives yo a great big yellow dome around your pet, so you know to use mend pet.

The passive leech may seem small, but it’s at least some sort of healing in combat outside of exhilaration.

Unfortunately the way pets are set up now, Ferocity is just, the best pet spec.
The speed boost from cunning is useful when traveling from A to B. But other than that it’s not really good for much.

Your secondary pet. It really doesn’t matter, because it doesn’t give you any of the family bonuses or special abilities.
So pick what you think looks pretty.

When you get exotic pet taming, I’d say pick up a clefthoof, it’s pretty much a direct upgrade to a scalehide.
