Best plate PvP class?

In general, how are the different plate classes viewed in PvP, when you DON’T have a healer babysitting you? :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m a “solo player” who loves WPvP and Random BGs, and I wanna find the right plate class for me.

And just to clarify, I’m not interested in whether or not a class is “meta right now”. I’m interested in a class with a good core class design that is “in general” considered good for PvP. :slightly_smiling_face:

For example, I hear that Arms Warrior is top tier WITH a healer on you at all times, but without a healer you are considered the worst dueling class in game. So Arms would be of no interest to me personally.

I’m unsure about Fury War, but I always hear people say that “Arms is the PvP spec”.

And when it comes to DK or Pally, I don’t know which of the two would be considered more suited towards PvP. I’m primarily thinking in terms of 1v1 scenarios in BGs or WPvP.

Any thoughts or advice is most welcome :slightly_smiling_face:

Plate hands down:Ret pala

other good DDs with selfhealing are Enh shaman, Feral Druid or Mage
(also rogue, but not for extrem healing bit u can vanish with a lot of dots and reset the fight u pick)

Furry will be a good PvP specc with 9.1

go ret, has all you need and is self sustaining with good dmg and healing

fury won’t be good in 9.1 as Keksly thinks because it has low self healing still without die by the sword and high cost of ignore pain still

DK - he is so strong even devs nerfed em 3 expansions in a row.

I’d also recommend ret, even before this season they were great for solo play, played one during Legion and BFA.

Thanks everyone!

I was secretly leaning more towards Ret, since I like having a healing spec available.

Of all 3 plate classes, I have been playing Death Knight extensively, but I don’t have much knowledge on where Warrior or Pally stands on comparison to my DK. So I’m glad to get some input on what the general opinion is.

Personally I feel DK is “fine” for solo PvP, but looking up videos I found that people either thought that DK was amazing, or middle of the pack. And everyone only recommends Warrior when having a healer assisting you. But I was very uncertain about Pally and where it stood in comparison to DK.

Everyone except 1 person has recommended Pally for what I specifically am seeking, so I just made my Tauren Pally moments ago.

I don’t know what ‘DD’ means, but Mage certainly doesn’t have any self-healing!

I’d like to see a DK nerf for once in my life… doesn’t really feel nerfed in BGs.

Fury wont be that good without some defensive or healing buff, go ret and oneshot ppl everywhere. Its Ret >>>>>>>FDK>>>>>other plate

damage dealer…

But mage got 3x Shield with a very low cooldown witch is higher then a MW cocoon, alternet time witch reset your health too full if u drop, a cheat death + iceblock, also Klepto can steal hots and esrthshild etc and heal you
most mage play night fae so seed healing if your opponent fail too kill it

if u play against rogue mage in Arena and u try too kill mage his HPS is on the same level as full hybrid dps

Warrior for rated/team play, ret for solo queueing skirms, BGs, world pvp etc.

Arms Warrior or Ret Paladin for sure.

Arms are insanely strong, especially when paired with a healer, but it’s more subtle than a Ret, which is why they often seem a lot more OP. It really comes down to what you want to do. Ret has more survivability doing pure solo content, both have great utility for their team, Arms have better sustained damage, Ret have better burst damage in 20 second windows.

For plate user, Ret is the best for solo since it has everything, Awesome burst very good offheal and in general you can solo play. You lack in mobility though and this will result in many classes kite you.
DK is also very strong for solo, you got grip and nice self heal that can make you survive without a pocket healer.
Last i would suggest a non plate user, Monk. It has everything + mobility that it is off the charts.
