Yeah, I’d agree with this.
Admittedly I haven’t levelled a hunter since about 2005/6, but from what I recall (I did a lot of raiding and PvP with it) the hunter is a heck of a lot of fun to play; easy to learn, but harder to master. It can be a truly effective class in the right hands.
