Disc if you want to be ranged
Holy pala if you want to be melee

No raids without a shaman, just saying 
Disc is good when you are used to when the spikes are coming
Holy paladin is good but you have to deal with melee mechanics while healing, for example sludgefist you will get chained to a melee
Resto shaman is strong, probably the easiest healer and good for everything

What about holy priest?
Resto shaman, disc priest with spirit shell and holy paladin. All three are insane.
Hard to say, when looking at raids logs there are some top holy priests on some of the bosses looking at top 100

This is the actual answer, OP.
That said, if you’re doing normal/heroic, any spec/class will do. The 3 mentioned are just the best.
Exactly, Holy Priests have insane hps output.
But play like watching paint dry. I absolutely despise healing as holy now.
I’d also add that druids are actually very powerful right now. Ours 9/10 soaks up so much healing.
Granted we don’t run a disc. So he will take all the HPS spirit shell would usually soak.
