Best Solo PvE Spec?

Had an urge to make a DK and do all of Northrend and so forth but I never seem to gel with DKs since WoD.

I main retadin and can solo almost anything in the open world, not interested in PvP or dungeons/raids. I’d just like to know which of the three is closest to the survivability of a retadin, I would guess Blood but if it hits like a wet noodle then meh.

Out of Frost and Unholy my favorite is Unholy. Unholy has really good survivabilty with the right talents (PvP talents too) and will keep you pretty tanky and alive through most mobs. I never had survivability issues with this one.

You seem new to DK so I’ll write some info here which you might already know about, but I’ll write it anyways.

I just want to point out that Paladin is mainly focused around defensive CDs, so you won’t find many other classes that can self-sustain as much as they can. But I’d say that Unholy has some good options. Just don’t switch class and expect Pal survivability

With talents and all my DK has these defensive spells:

• Death Strike (Heals min 7% of max health each hit)
• Death Pact (Heals 50% of max health)
• Anti-Magic Shell (Def against spell dmg)
• Icebound Fortitude (Reduce dmg taken and immune to stuns)
  (Some of these have more effects than I wrote here)

I’d say these are plenty, and with proper rotation you will nearly always have intervals of “runic power” you can spend on Death Strike.

I like to think of DK as a “Pal with more focus on offense than defense” hehe.

if u have all the heirlooms then get some wod crit enchants on ring, neck and cloack, get full heirloom crit items and go frost.

my experimental lvl66 DK has 25% crit, kills stuff super fast

I still like blood for solo PvE - you can pull as much as you like and on many respects the more you pull the better the damage output

It may be a little slower to kill mobs but you have to try very hard to get killed

currently 1 2 2 2
icy chains nuke is great, you should be able to aoe nuke stuff down and abuse the DS resets to leave almost full HP, u will sprint northrend in no time

the race is for nothing particular, just decided to make a bearded DK and found a cool helm

Sure my talents are:

1. All will serve
2. Ebon fever
3. Asphyxiate
4. Soul reaper
5. Death pact
6. Defile
7. Unholy frenzy

PvP talents:

• Abomination
• Necrotic strike
• Transfusion (another healing spell I forgot to mention)

I mainly chose these around PvP, and changed it to my own personal preference.

Oh cool, always liked All Will Serve talent but got told it was useless, nice to see someone uses it. I shall give this a go after I finish my current alt. Many thanks!

It is a very single target oriented build, which is why All Will Serve is recommended here for AoE there are probably better options because of how talents depends on the type of content you play.
