What were the best tier sets in your opinion? Either from a gameplay or looks prospective.
Mage tier 2 8-bonus, before 1.2 patch (classic never had that set).
they nerfed if and had no clue about warrior scaling back then, well mage’s got their “buff” with how ignite worked in naxx.

Ahem! I mean Paladin mythic tier 21 looks pretty good.
I’ll only go into the few classes I play(ed) or it’s going to be a long list. Never been all too interested in the set bonusses so it’ll be looks only from me.
Warrior: I really liked tier1, it had spikes and chains! (man I’d love a tier1 visual update)
DH: tier 19 (Nighthold) the Second Sight set, love it!
Pala: tier 20 which is just the tier 6 update but it looks much better due to the 3D elements. (except the mythic shoulders they look stupid but I just use the tier 6 ones that fit well with it)
Monk: tier 15 (ToT) I love the patty hats and the tattooish kind of look to it.
Mage t8 
it had a chance to proc off a proc off a proc insta pyroblasts.
My record was 14 instant pyroblasts in a row. I hit over 10k dps for the time in my wow history. Took the threat off the tank. He was pissed on vent , but i couldn’t just say no 14 insta pyros !
Also all the dragon souls 4 set bonus were insane and fun ! Frenzied regen on all party members , i was a bear tank then , soloing DS 10 man heroic it was so cool.
Aesthetically tier 19 from Legion and it’s various tints.
You can see they put a lot of effort in those sets.
Legion really had some of the best sets ever in terms of visuals, like holy smokes.

The set my character is wearing is the most monk-looking set in the entire game.
It was the elite set from Legion S5-S6-S7.

Well at least the last xpac with class specific sets went out with a bang.
Genuinely liked tiers 19-21 visually and thematically.
The nod to the older sets remastered at tier 20 was also nice.

Looked super cool and i could be a void bolt turret in voidform

Aesthetically i prefer the antorus version though.
But priest got treated really well during legion.
For Druid:
- Best looks: T6
- Best gameplay: Dragon soul feral (tank and cat). Made frenzied regen heal entire raid. I could bear healers on meter while playing cat or tank and it even healed on boss that prevent healers from spamming heals (don’t remember the name)
all the blackfoundry class sets
I don’t know if this answer is valid but i loved the PVP sets from Pandaria. It’s crazy to think PVP sets and PVE sets looked different. I know right crazy but it’s true it happened back in the " gold old days" then Blizz got lazy and just decided to rehash Raid sets and give them a red tinge and there you go.
The mop pvp sets tho especially for hunter and shaman * does the O sign* very chic !
Edit : Yes i know they rehashed sets in tbc but thankfully they stopped doing that until last Season of Wod then they went back to the TBC trend of not trying. So no need to point that out.

DK t19 mythic set. It’s the most Lich King themed set in the game.
Yea, that is the best dk tier set, agreed.
For havoc i really like the tier 21, but the red version.
Don’t know if it’s still possible to get it.
Mage and Warlock don’t have a single set I don’t like I think
Paladin t2 , t6 ,t8 and ToS in legion sets for looks.
DS tier and FL tier both had very fun set bonus for all specs .
I LOVE Wrathful Paladin & DK
