Streamer / press promotion should pretty much come in the last 2 weeks of beta.
So you dont like classic, but somehow you think you deserve beta access more than other people just because you are stuck in lockdown?
You are acting like a spoiled brat thinking you deserve things more than others, me me me attitude.
Blizzard is a business, they want to earn money, so of course they give beta access to people who help earn them money.
Every day opt in players are getting invites, but you dont see that because you are so focused on crying about a handfull of streamers that got a invite.
I dont watch streamers myself, but im not so delusional that i dont see why they are given beta invites.
No, Iâm not a huge fan of classic, even if I do have 4 60âs on it.
And a few streamers? Itâs all anyone is streaming on Twitch right now.
Once again your compliancy will not substitute your arrogance on this matter.
None of my friends got the beta RL or on discord, nor did anyone from the guild, not a single person, but every streamer is streaming it on twitch and Iâm getting newsfeed updates like Iâm supposed to be excited that Iâm being put into a waiting room so I can watch these half bothered players power level through content they donât even care about.
How am I being a spoilt brat because I donât like how this has been promoted and put out to the âgeneralâ population?
Get over yourself.
Iâd say it would be a better idea to earn more money by comitting to quality of products and marketing.
Such as, adding people to the beta to report bugs, and not doing early hype that will die month before the expansion goes live. From the level of activity on the beta forums, I see that they again added a small bunch like for Classic, and will probably again only add more people when itâs close to the release, so they just wonât care to play on servers thatâll reset in a week to two. The same happened for Classic and resulted in launch with bugs that nobody reported.
And especially considering the launch situation with login queues, I find pretty no reason to do any marketing until 2 weeks after release.
So, pretty much, a beta with NDA but with more people in.
NDA works only for contracted testers that are testers as a profession - and companies do use them. Typical gamer is not a tester and isnât that efficient at actually âtestingâ the game.
You could:
- Read a Book
- Play another game
- Learn a (programming) language
- Design something
- Watch a TV Series
Itâs not as if there is nothing to do.
Right, coming from the person who only comes onto forums to bash other peoples opinions on matters?
Get.Over.Yourself.
NDA is for preventing the game from being shown on streams and videos and doing DMCA takedowns on them, which is quite effective in reducing early hype.
As for testing - the gamer maybe is not a tester, but still reports bugs that more frequently appear in normal use, not testing, which can be useful for prioritising which bugs should be fixed before launch and which can wait because they wonât affect the wide audience.
Also, some gamers would voluntarily do actual testing, the way testers do.
And why kill hype when it sells subs? Aside of that NDA can only be enforced on bigger platforms like Twitch on YT (to some extent) but still doesnât prevent âleaksâ via other channels.
Also beta under full NDA can lead to players not revealing found exploits
TBC Beta right now is after internal testing and Blizzard deemed it can be showed publicly. In the upcoming weeks/months there will be more and more players and likely open stress tests where everyone will be able to participate.
For SL beta they prioritised people that had âgoodâ beta history If they want such people they know who to invite.
Also early on when the known bugs list is so large you donât really want many people as there would be to much duplicate reports. The less and less issues you have then the more and more people you want to let in to start finding more and more obscure bugs and issues.
I never said the above list was comprehensive, did I?
Leaks on other channels donât generate the hype twitch does.
It is still during internal testing and development, which for example can be seen by the unfinished UI
I think they prioritised giveaway winners and the same standard list they always go with (some people never getting beta, some people always getting)
Guess thatâs what you call âgood beta historyâ. If youâve never had beta, you donât have good beta history. And apparently changing battle.net email address clears it.
Question is why do you feel like you deserve a beta key more then the other people that have opted in for the key? Are you a game developer, programmer, marketing specialist, media conglomerate professional tester or anyone other then just a regular player?
Beta keys are handed out to players that have been proven before that there usefull in some way during this phase of a game, be it for marketing, or testing. There are special companies / employees that go over the game with a fine comb to check for bugs and missing stuff. Next to that theres lots of media exposure by fansites, and streamers and some of their followers will meticulously go over all the footage to check for incosistencies.
One additional player of whoâs not proven that there beneficial is expecting, no demanding that they give him attention? Thats a sure way to get you flagged for ânot eligableâ to receive a beta key
Youâre just a broken record, Iâm unsure what you feel that you gain from coming onto forums just for opinion bashing but it is incredibly, lame, stupid, and irrelevant. Enjoy the rest of the week and have a good weekend, buddy!
I am enjoying every day of every week, but thanks anyway
i would say thou if they did give some beta keys to the sed normal person you think what that could do for a normal person or really small streamer (i donât stream) could change a life that i say the views and support they would get would be awsome to see
Yes, there is just a few streamers, they do take a lot of space since they are so popular, but there is not hundreds or thousands of streamers in on the beta.
How am i arrogant, in pointing out the very clear reasoning for why streamers are getting invites, and not some random nobody?
Because there is probably 500k-a few million players who have clicked opt in to the beta, and there are probably max a few hundred opt in players that have been granted access as for now, so the fact that your friends have not gotten a invite, does not come as a suprise.
Over the course of the beta, more and more players will be granted access, so that you are complaining that you did not make the cut on the very first beta wave.
Because you are angry that you are not in the 0,01% of the opt in players that was granted access, and are throwing a tantrum over it.
So you want blizzard, to say no thanks to millions of dollars worth of free advertising, and instead spend millions on âregularâ marketing that hits less of the interessted players?
They are doing that, its just that you are so hung up on the streamers that you dont see the regular players that have been granted access, and every week more and more players get invites.
Blizzard have done betas for every expansion and including vanilla, and they have done the exact same thing for every beta, start out with a small amount, and increase over the course of the beta. This is not a new thing.
Classic was locked at 40, there was not much to do in the classic beta, thats why it had a lot of bugs, because they didnt enable testing for the higher levels, got nothing to do with the amount of players. in addition to the vanilla world being gigantic compared to outlands.
A NDA? what are you smoking? Please tell me the point in having a NDA on a game that is a rerelease? Everything in the game have been known for almost 15 years, with the exception of some changes that they already have announced.
A NDA works for new games, but is completely pointless in a rerelease of a game thats been available for 15 years.
Where has anyone said that theyâre entilted to the beta above anyone else? Itâs the delivery of the beta that is to the disliking of many.
Why am I receiving emails and newsfeed spam regarding TBC Content update, when the only content weâll really be seeing is months away? Why do people like you feel the need to throw sour grapes at people who arenât happy with the way it has been implemented? Are you hoping that Blizzard makes you a forum moderator or something?
To me it comes down to this, if it was never about âtestingâ bugs and more of a promotion for expansion then surely make it closer to pre-patch atleast, give us something to look forward to. Iâm sure youâre more than content with watching people play a game for hours on end but thatâs simply not enough for me and many others.
If i canât use these forums to express how I feel regarding the matter, why is a forum even here?
How am I throwing a tantrum over it? Please elaborate, from my POV it seems like youâve literally just come onto these forums to try and start an argument with anyone that you can? Lol! Unbelievable. Why are you even here?
Yeah Iâm sure you will enjoy lurking on these forums on a work week mid-day as per usual "
You come to the forum, and complain that you are not in the 0,01% And when people point out that you are being rediculous, you say im only here to start a argument with people?
This is a public forum, anyone can give their opinion, and everyone is allowed to point out that your opinion is stupid. If you cant handle that other people dont agree with you, why do you post on public forums?
