Better accessibility options for poor eyesight

I struggle with double vision and i’m colourblind (deuteranopia). The colourblind mode helps a little but it’s one of those simple filters that in some cases are just as much a problem as they are a help (visual become very bleak and washed out which makes some things harder to see for different reasons). Cranking up the contrast setting tends to be the better option in games that uses that kind of colourblind mode.

I’m currently trying to get into the higher difficulty stuff but stuff like brown swirlies with unclear edges on brown ground is repeatedly my deathsentence. Thus i set out to find myself a mod that would give me som clear lines for AoEs. What i’ve learned is that apparently these kinds of mod would mess with the terms of service.

Is wow not for those of poor sight or is there hope for some better visual aid in the future?

As someone slightly nearsighted but otherwise great eyesight, those swirlies are absolutely awfully difficult to see in general. Nokhud sucks with this, with all packs before Teera and Maruuk, green in tall grass and off-white with weird and hard to see particles, Court of Stars with everything before 1st boss and 1st boss himself, almost impossible to see those ground effects of purple on purple that don’t even have indicators, just the particles, Ruby Life Pools with all the brown on brown before the 1st boss, as well as the gods forsaken swirlies in the water just at the 1st pack.

These are the ones I could remember off the top of my head that are problematic, I’m sure there are more, but yeah they’re always hard to see even for someone who isn’t really visually impaired, for you they’re probably way worse. Really all we can do is hope for better visual aid in the future, at the moment I don’t think there’s anything planned.

If it’s the mods I’m thinking of it is mainly because they can be used to give players an advantage over others, like being used to make herbs and mining nodes stand out better giving some players an easier time farming and then selling on AH gaining more gold. They can probably be used to give advantages in other areas of the game too which is why they are blanket banned.

You would need to speak directly to blizzard about this issue, making suggestions of how they can make the game more accessible for you and others with vision impairments because only when they hear what your accessibility issues are can they make the right changes.

I would suggest creating a level 10 char on US servers and bringing it up on their forums as the devs do read there and also using the in game submit feedback options (menu - support - submit feedback/report bug)

Your best bet is to follow the instructions here and email the accessibility team direct, as any post you make on the US forums is only going to get you redirected to this support article anyway.
