Please be aware that there is a scammer on Sylvanas-EU, who is randomly sending out the below message:
“[Blizzard Administrator] General Manager: We are investigating the abnormal account, please visit (website): to check, otherwise we will suspend your account”.
Needless to say, don’t visit this site as it is a scam to steal your blizz username and password.
If you go on the website, you will notice that this it not a secure website, that should be a red flag.
These have been around for over 10 years, If it is genuinely from a GM the message will have a blue Blizzard icon next to the name, plus they will message you through the the Blizzard notification system and not randomly in game chat
If you come to think of it, you are definitely right!
I raised a complaint in-game and modified this topic to make it a heads-up for any players who may be asking themselves if the message is legit or not.
Probably just some chinese bot. The character who sent you that message likely already got deleted and replaced with another low lvl char. even on a dead server like mine you see such messages once in a long while
Click on the GM Chat Request icon located in the upper right corner of your screen to open the GM Chat Window. This icon only appears if a GM is attempting to contact you, and its border flashes blue when a message is received.
GMs have a tag next to their names in chat. If someone claims to be a GM, but doesn’t have that icon, report and block them.
If a GM can’t reach you in-game, or if the issue doesn’t need further information, the GM may send an in-game mail to the character that submitted the ticket. You can also see ticket responses on your Ticket Status page. Check both locations before resubmitting a ticket.
I think the last ones that I saw doing the rounds were the ‘depth investigation’ ones but I have no idea how many years ago that was. Found one on reddit as an example, dates back to 2017:-
Report, ignore, move on, this is the general forum as well, we don’t need to know what issues unaffiliated servers have, also, naming and shaming is generally frowned upon (despite being super effective)
